What Is the Best 5.56 Round? (M193 vs M855 vs MK262)

The nature of the video seems to be oriented towards the best for self-defense, but there are other options available.

The intent of this thread is a discussion on the use/effectiveness of these various 5.56 rounds, and any alternative .223/5.56 loads, vs. the business that has produced the video.

My main self-defense load out is a mix of M855 & a hot 64 gr. .223 ballistic tip-type load.

Practice loads are standard 55gr FMJ (M193 equivalents), but for long-range use in a bolt gun or HB AR I use 69/77 gr loads.

Reg 5.56 with 55 gr FMJ’s go right thru.

Happen to know from neighbors down the road of this shooting that were friends with Mr Waters that he took 5 rounds of AR and is in the hospital recovering.
Whole thing reads like the Hatfields and McCoys.
Bottom line: he took 5 AR rounds and is alive.
Not all rounds are equal

I got an email from them with it posted at the top of their page.............passed on watching.

Using factory 556 ammo can be tooooooooo high power for cqb/hd use. Purpose built ammo for pistol/sbr use like what is done with pistol ammo would be the way to go (my 2 pennies worth)! Even if the twist doesn't stabilize it enough, who cares at 25 yards or less! In a house it's not that far. AND yes I load lots of fmj for lots of reasons and can go thru objects. Lower velocity with higher weight projectile would be better. Those who don't reload aren't going to have the options.

I really haven't dove too deep into PD rounds for 5.56, but I suspect some type of hollow point is going to be the thing. That said, I shoot a lot of M193 and M855. I don't shoot M855 at any of my steel targets anymore though.

Right now I have one unbraced pistol ready to roll just in case of a zombie apocalypse. It has a mag coupler, M193 in one and M855 in the other. No need to point out how wrong this is. This weapon is about 9 down on the list of what I'm grabbing first.
