Whenever I have friends who want to visit (N Texas) in September I always tell them wait until October, it’s still summer in September. San Antonio and Houston will be muggy as heck.

Most likely the only time it wasn't hot was during the ice age, but it did get snow 3 years ago.

Houston is a semi-tropical climate, so it's the humidity that plays a big part in the "feels like" temp. Actual temp. is normally 80's to low 90's. SA is almost a mirror image. But unless your plans include a lot of time outdoors, you'll be fine!
