When Will the Ammo Shortage End? We take a look at both the ammo shortage and what you can do about it!

Informative article on when the ammo shortage will end, myself, I don’t see it letting up anytime to soon with all the new push for gun control, but time will tell.

Thanks for posting Anni,
Good article, thanks for the share. Was good thoughts and perspective going with a smaller ammo producers input and thoughts too. One thing thought was a bit off, wasn't verbally stated, but was still implied, is to have a going with the flow flexible plan which covers survival basics 1st, then cover other needs with or by other means. Which in my opinion is a wise choice especially when dealing with possibly lengthy unknowns.

Until recently, I assumed that the lack of available ammo would start to hurt firearm sales and things would begin to stabilize. Since the gun cases are still empty in my local shops, I'm starting to doubt my initial prediction. I really have no idea when our current situation will end. I'm just along for the ride at this point.

I stopped by the local Armscor outlet store today and while there talked with a guy who had been at a sporting goods store in another town nearby.

He said some out-of-staters were there and saw that it had a decent amount of 30/30 ammo (been pretty scarce lately). They took it all (no store limits) and said that they can take the 30/30 ammo back to AZ and sell it for $6.00 per round there.

It’s that type of behavior that will cause this ammunition issue to last a long time.

Here's the most fascinating part of this story (and you can plug in any specialty manufacturer in here...not just ammo)....With a limited number of ammo makers, why aren't they raising their prices (sure prices are going up through the secondary market), and why aren't they expanding. To me it's a head scratcher. Last month, the number of FBI checks for new guns was an all time high. The capital equipment investment for making ammo is nothing compared to other industries like semiconductors. My take, these are "old school" businesses being run as cash cows with fully depreciated equipment, by old school business people that feel "why raise prices or invest in more equipment, my business is doing just fine". I've seen this happen in other industries...ripe for private equity takeover.
