On April 27, 1922 Charles Horn and a group of investors bought the Anoka ammunition plant and establish the new Federal Cartridge Corporation.

He was originally interested in Federal because he wanted to make paper tubes for air rifle shot.
Federal offered BBs from the 1920s through the 1970s.

Thwarted by competitors, Charles Horn builds distribution through unusual channels like barber shops, gas stations, hardware stores, dentists, and pool halls.

I remember having having those paper tubes full of BB’s when I was allowed to shoot pellet and BB guns as a kid.

i have a paper tube of BB's. Without looking I'm pretty sure they're Daisy. Still have the old hand me down 1 cock pump Daisy air rifle too. That thing has spent so much time leaning against the wall of the garage the plastic stock is warped. Still zings them out there though.
