why do you profess

this is about why you take to 1 cartridge of the rest and why you stick to that cartridge! from looking on here and seeing many swap 1 out (mainly 9x19's) just to get another in the same size (sub-comp for sub-comp for example) or another rifle in the same cartridge (or compatible 223rem/5.56nato, but not using nato in 223rem). since i reload my approach is a little different as i can use the caliber in a different cartridge that's caliber compatible. i haven't gotten into the whole buy, sell and trade yet (not sure if i will), but more of a branching out into different cartridges of the same caliber. so, what do you profess?

i am not fully understanding your question?

i flunked gym, in favor of nap time.

but if i can sift thru it, what do we like..?? and stick with..???

for EDC, right now, it is my Hellcat in 9mm

sometimes my Glock G-30 in 45 ACP

i have a .357 snubby revolver, just no holster.

for general target practice,

.22 lr, .22 mag, 38 special/357 mag, 9mm, 45 ACP, and 45 Colt LC

i have sold, traded mostly 9mm and 357 mags, and 45 ACP's, and with the exception of the .357, bought the others, of different brands, or models

case in point, i'd gladly buy another CZ 9 mm, or another 1911 in 45 ACP...(just say another Dan Wesson or S&W)

i'd gladly buy another .22 lr, (pistol only) maybe this time another brand.

i just don't see the need or want on my part to have a 10mm, 44 special/mag, or any other caliber in my collection.

what i have serves me well, as i reload, and just don't want a room full of brass, bullets, dies, presses, benches, etc, etc.

nor another locking cabinet to store all that crappola.

for me, the Hellcat fits really nicely in my hand, for others it's too small, reason why some may rid of one subcompact, for another brand.???

What I profess now is certainly different than what I did in my youth. Once upon a time I was always after the next best thing. Either in my imagination, or the newest, greatest, whatever. A nicer upland shotgun, better deer rife, most advanced carry gun, etc. After all is said and done, I ended up right where I started. .38 J frame, Win. M94, and a single shot shotgun. ++++ ;) I would have saved $$$ not playing the chase game and more likely than not be more proficient with what I have, but it sure was a fun ride.

You have to experience all the good, bad and mediocre to appreciate what truly works well for oneself and is their perfect fit”

thing is when one "experiences" such, over and over again, the wallet collects skid marks from either the credit card holder or the cash holder.

then, the pants pocket in which the wallet resides, gets a hole in it, from pulling out that wallet, and putting it back in the pocket...over and over again.

unless all ranges, clubs have rentals, everyone cannot experience what works for them...and many times, those rentals are so badly maintained or just not working properly, it's a worthless waste of money.

then comes time to get rid of what you bought.....not always gonna get full pricing when you dump it, forcing many to keep them in the safe...forever.

In my self-defense guns I carry 9mm Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P.

I carry those specifically because they were recommended to me by Kathy Jackson, The author of this book.

She's considered an expert so I took her advice.

If I can't find any of my preferred ammunition I buy anything on this list.

This list was also recommended to me by Kathy Jackson.

The guy who published it is considered to be the leading SME in the field.

I'll throw something out there to think about.
Some people don't really choose a cartridge; they choose the gun and the cartridge comes with it.

Example:
I love the Browning HiPower. I hated the 9mm cartridge for years, but I had always liked the BHP. After buying one and shooting it, I found I could shoot it better and faster than the .45 I had been shooting. I still didn't like the cartridge then, but 9mm was the only choice in the BHP at that time. I felt the gun's handling, carrying, and shooting qualities offset my dislike for the cartridge.

ETA: The BHP did convince me the 9mm had merit!

It is never the cartridge, its the user.

well, on that note i'll say my 1st auto was chosen by the gun also (amt hardballer long slide 45acp). i'd been shooting a 629 in 44mag (my 1st ever firearm purchase) for about 2 years. after giving it a go for 1k rounds i thought it to be a pile of crap (both 1911's & 45acp)! 45acp changed my mind after purchasing a g21. great gun and vey accurate.

you probably liked the weight of the all metal 9mm gun, compared to your 45, which you shot well, and the recoil was better controlled than say a polymer 9mm gun.

I liked, and still like, the magnificent grip.
And the slim slide when it comes to IWB.

I’d still be carrying one now if someone would make one RDS-ready. I can send one off, but don’t have any that I should be grinding on. I might anyway.

Damned Mr Magoo eyes.
