Why You Should Get A Suppressor for Survival: How To...

A good suppressor is an amazing tool for hunting, shooting, and fun, but it can play an essential role in survival situations and may be another essential piece of equipment to have should societal conditions turn for the worse.

I call BS. Anyone who says 140 db is “hearing safe” is as full of crap as a Christmas goose. I spent more than 40 years as a Safety Engineer, and unless the laws of physics and human anatomy have changed dramatically in the last decade or so a 140 db noise WILL cause permanent hearing loss. If you want a can, fine, but don’t try to justify it based on a 20 or 25 db reduction in noise😏

I know different guns are louder with the same can and same ammo, for instance running sub sonic ammo with the obsidian 9 on the SA elite is three time quieter than on the glock 19. i know nothing about DB levels, only what hurts my ears. some guns and some ammo i can shoot without protection and some i can't. different suppressors have different sounds and loudness.

If you're shooting subsonic 22lrs through a suppressor it sounds like an air gun.

No muffs needed typically.

Me thinks one might want to enlighten oneself on the correct preparation of the Christmas Goose.

Also, thank you so much for the kind and generous Christmas dinner invitation, unfortunately I will be refereeing at the @killerford vs @Old_Me Christmas soirée.

Supersonic ammo will give off a different tone/frequency for sure! Supersonic small bore is way harder to listen to w/o ear protection compared to medium and large bore. I can say that shooting 5.56 in a helo makes no difference as you can't hear over the helo noise with no doors. I've shot 264wm w/o hearing protection since I was 11. More of a gas volume rush concussion than anything. Linear brakes are great for small bores throwing noise forward. I'm almost at a "suppressors are a waste " verdict unless it can reduce 40dbl or more. 20-30dbl is almost not worth yhe time and money......well my time and money as ymmv!

I've recently decided to only use suppressors on bolt guns and 22lrs.

Not going to mess with them on MSRs.
