I just received an email from Windham Weaponry that they are shutting their doors and will not be making firearms anymore.

Windham Weaponry has been a well respected name in the firearms industry for the past 12 years and its sad that they are closing up shop. I wish the best of luck to all the employees that worked for them making the high quality firearms they are known for.

Here's a copy of the email I received.

It is with deep regret that we announce the closing of Windham Weaponry. Our website/online retail ordering system will remain active through Tuesday night, Sept 12. We will do our best to ship all orders this week and early next week. No credit card will be charged until the order is shipped.

Twelve years ago, when we started Windham Weaponry, our shareholders and longtime employees were excited to continue the traditions and spirit of Bushmaster Firearms, after the new owners decided to leave Maine.

We built WW into a company we could be proud of providing outstanding customer service, high quality products, as well as a great place for our dedicated employees to work.

The last few years have been a very challenging time for the firearms industry, and we have struggled to keep the WW dream alive for as long as possible. Unfortunately, we have not been able to meet our loan obligations with the bank after they worked with us as much as they could.

There was a glimmer of hope when we were negotiating with an investor to help keep WW alive and healthy, but that just fell through.

We have begun discussions with Keenan Auction Company to determine the best course of action for a full liquidation which should happen within the next month or so.

Our shareholders and employees truly appreciate your loyal support all of these years.

Got a few things from them but no firearms.

Generally, they didn't have the products that fit my needs.

I thought their product line was fairly pedestrian, compared to the evolution of the platform.

Post-Bushmaster they couldn't reclaim the head-start they had when Bushmaster, compared to the extra competition.

They did sell mostly traditional AR type rifles but the QC on their products was known to be top notch.

Yea they're product line seemed right out of 90's early 2000's retro.

That's fine but the market evolved past that era.

One can still get into the retro-styled stuff but those that are competitive have to have a broader & more modern product line.

They have a wood stocked AR i almost pulled the trigger on several times.
well, i haven't been involved with the shooting sport/world/hobby for too long, i also never heard of Sbardella in VT either.

the only "New England" firearms makers i have heard of are Sig, Colt, S&W, Ruger, so you know, "the bigger" companies.

these/those little companies, i just never heard of them.....

Heck, up until last year, i only hear of "Standard and Savage"........they may be big in rifles, but they both have started building 1911's, which is the only reason why i have heard of them

I think for the most part they outpriced themselves. They were selling plain jane AR's for nearly double what others were selling them for. when most people look at two similiar AR's and one is 1200 and the other is 6, they go with the cheaper one. think what kept me from buying that wooden stocked one from them was it was over 2 grand. Their prices just weren't competitive. but still hate to see them go under. we certainly don't need any manufacture to go under.

I had a few when Bushmaster sold under the name of Quality Parts corp. They were a supplier to the military for certain replacement parts and I believe some comple weapons. They used to have a monthly mailer just like Dillon Precision. I ran mine hard back in the 90s and it would keep pace with my Colt and Armalite all day long. The things I had, wishing I'd never have traded away. SMH.
