No. And it's not because I don't trust the "stopping power" of the .22LR round, it's because I don't trust its reliability.
I love .22 handguns, and I'd put my collection of them up against anyone's. I love owning them, I love shooting them, and I've shot them A LOT. I can't think of one of my .22 semiautos that hasn't had a "jam" of some sort at one time or another. They're USUALLY 100% reliable in function, but "usually" isn't good enough for a SD weapon. You need 100% all the time, every time.
Revolvers? 100% reliable in function, but you still face the problem of .22LR ignition. I don't own any kind of .22 or have shot any kind of .22 ammo, regardless of cost or "quality," that hasn't gone click instead of bang at some point.
If I HAD to rely on a .22 for SD, it would be a DA revolver. At least when the round doesn't go off, you can just pull the trigger for a fresh round to come up. And it would be an 8, 9, or 10-shot DA revolver at that.
