Well...Armslist just started charging to post ads...AND respond to them.
I'm done with them.
I'm done with them.
Interesting, I’ve used and had great success on there website, I’ve seen where you can have the “account” type profile $ or just the regular at no cost. I guess they figured they would jump on the bandwagon and make money on this craziness. Sad.Just a clarification on that...
If they were only charging to post an ad, I’d actually be OK with that; it would cut down on scam listings, not necessarily a bad thing.
But, when you have to have a paid account just to respond? That severely cuts down on interest. Not worth it.

Well that blows, I spent a lot of time on that site and I've found a lot of weapons to trade and buy locally on armslist....wow, guess I'll go elsewhere...Just a clarification on that...

It was a great site especially since it was based on your local and you were only contacted by people in your area.Well that blows, I spent a lot of time on that site and I've found a lot of weapons to trade and buy locally on armslist....wow, guess I'll go elsewhere...
I've had nothing but good dealings with people on the site locally. That's unfortunate, that was one of the great advantages of the site was that it was free.It was a great site especially since it was based on your local and you were only contacted by people in your area.
oh well, luckily I’ve sold/bought all I’m going to so not a big deal for me.
If you only want to use the site once it’s not to bad but I worry about some sites not being very tech secure and if they are hacked then your information is stolen. Sign of the times.I too have had great luck using their website. I have noticed a mad rush of scammers in the last few months. They post something at a reasonable price, try to get you to send your information and never want to talk on the phone.
For a reasonable fee, to weed out miscreants, I wouldn't have a problem. When inquired about the fees, there's no option to opt out. 3.99 a month with auto pay, 6.99 if tied to a credit card. That seems kinda shady.
Interesting, I wonder if there is something else going on??Well...looks like things got interesting.
Their SSL certification expired yesterday evening, and now it’s a full on 503 “Temporarily Unavailable” message.
I'd figured out a work around; I’d had one of my ads up to edit in an unclosed window, and could get in to it, make changes, bump it, and even add a means of contact other than via Armslist...but now, I doubt that’s gonna work.
Wonder if they are gone.
Bingo, Ad traffic pays for free sites of any kind. I’m guessing some backers are backing out to save capital before the election.I’m able to get on normally and it’s showing the lock next to the url on iOS Safari but iOS Chrome shows a warning. Digicert’s Heartbleed check came back as a problem with the check and they’re using SSL 3.0 which has a major vulnerability.
I had to look at 3 different certificate checkers before I found the 3.0 problem. The other two showed them as green across the board. I’m not a big computer guy so I’m just going off what I can find but something seems off.
The new fee based system is annoying but I can understand it if they’re not getting the ad traffic to support the site.
