XDM 4.5 " 45 acp. Why was this model discontinued ?

companies discontinue models all the time.

could be any number of reasons, low sales, maybe issues with cracking polymer due to the power of a .45?
 
I do not work for Springfield Armory, but I would suspect that Springfield is constantly evolving their firearms. Meaning they are making improvements when it is cost effective and at the same time being innovative. It would be my bet that the XDM was improved to the XDm Elite. And with the manufacturing of the new line of firearms, the 4.5" 45ACP just has not made it's release yet. But I am sure it's coming. Here is my review of the XDm Elite. If you have not had any experience with it, I hope it answers any questions you may have.

I agree with randomhero. They already made a xdm elite 45 with the 3.8” barrel. I assume the 4.5 will come eventually. Which makes me jealous since I wish my xdm had an optics cut. With the mag ban in my state coming unlikely I will buy one. Never know I think the elites take the xdm mags, if that’s the case I don’t think I will be able to resist.

I always thought that the 45 was a low pressure round.
