XDM Elite 10mm OSP 4.5" 16rd Mags Now Holds 17rds

Went to the range today. Shot all five of my 16rd mags that came with my XDM.
Got home, cleaned it, and then loaded up my mags for the next range visit this
weekend.
The first mag I loaded; I lost count on how many rounds I loaded. I unloaded it and
it had 17rds. So I reloaded it and the other four mags; And ALL of them held 17rds.
I use the factory Springfield mag loader. Could not do this without it. And there still
is a slight bounce in the loaded mags if you push down on the top bullet loaded.
This also as happened to me with my Sig P322. Those mags hold 20rds; And now
after breaking them in they ALL hold 22rds.

Up until a few months ago I could not legally get my hands on a standard capacity magazine for my XD9. I think I have eight now and have also noticed that they will accept 17 rounds.

I have not loaded 17 rounds at the range to see if they all cycle properly.

At the range a couple months ago I rented a Ruger 1911 and absent-mindedly put eight rounds in the magazine but it would not feed properly.

Do your "overloaded" mags run ok?

Yes, they all ran fine. Not one misfire, jam, stove pipe, failure to feed or eject.
 
Color me confused.:confused: I recently purchased an XDM Elite 10mm and it came with 15 round mags, but they will hold 16. Everything I have read states that the XDM Elite 10mm is shipped with 16 round mags. What gives????

The markings on the mag show 15rds. But they are 16rd magazines. I am guessing they did not have enough room to punch out the 16rd hole and engraving.

The 16 rd. Elite magazines have the same mag body as the 15 rd. mags, but the 16 rd. mags have an extended base-plate that allows for the extra rd.

Thanks! Good to know. I will experiment the next time I'm at the range. This means I could carry 35 rounds easily.
