Having worked for a local municipality that played fast and loose with public funds, I am still somewhat amazed by this sleight of hand trick.

With all of the cuts being made for truly needed services, the City Council approves the purchase of a gun store!

Wow.

I do know where this is, lived 2min from there for 25 years (never went it). Next to, maybe 50 yards, is a freeway overpass with a hobo camp under it, but there isn't a school within many blocks that I know of. The closest is a private high school and a public middle school but it's a 5-10 minutes drive, which I guess given the friggin' traffic in this dreaded city could very well be 2 blocks down but it's not, more like 5-10 blocks.

The city council types back there are little tyrants deciding things on their own because they think they have absolute power. One of these jackasses years ago decided to put bike lanes and posts in the middle of the road, essentially cutting the car lanes in half. Spent a week doing this, created monster traffic everywhere then got yelled at by the city and told to undo it all. And he didn't get fired! A couple years later, the same jackass was "putting his life in the way" blocking the sheriff department from cleaning up Santa Monica from the Mogadishu conditions of the hobo camp that had been a rotting hell for a couple years. There are hundreds of these ****-for-brains all over CA, you wonder why things turn to hell in these places.

All of their so-called reasoning is total BS. Just another case of antis putting emotion above fact.
Can't the owner simply refuse to sell to the city? But then if the city has run off any prospective buyers. I'd have no problem with taking a big chunk of their money.

The kids will have less trauma from seeing the word "Guns" on their way home from school.

Beside the obvious implication of guns being bad, like cigarettes or heroin, what we have here is some very misguided adults ruining entire generations of children. Protecting them from the trauma of the word " Guns" but not from the trauma of a guy in a dress hanging out in the girls bathroom is beyond misguided. It's downright child abuse.

Imagine first of all a kid who is traumatized by the word "Guns".... What kind of member of society is this kid going to grow up to be ? Now imagine an entire society of morons raising children to believe they should never have to encounter anything they disagree with or don't like... 3 Words. Entitled future victims.
