When my best friend was dying with brain cancer dad and I took him up north during October archery season, where we three had gone for like 50 years together.
All we had was a three day weekend due to his treatments. We took him to every single hunting spot any of us could remember going within 50 miles of the cabin. Never once strung a bow just rode walked and sat.
At one of his particular favorites I saw him walk for the first time in months without his walker, and he turned to me and said,
"Do you smell that?"
"Do you feel that?"
All I could do was nod and say Yes Don, and I did, the familiar smell and feeling.
Nowadays I smell and feel without either of thrm and it's not the same... good but not the same.
