Last time I renewed my license, with Real ID and attached my DOT card to it the total was around $400 all together. Of course some of that is the 5 year Hazmat test and fingerprint/BGC ordeal.

Nothing is free in the great communist state of Illinois renewal or not, it's going to cost you at least a half day of your life and $30 for the drivers license or state ID card.

Influx of folks to Texas has resulted in a 5-7 month wait to get a new Texas DL or state issued ID.
My resident DL renewal was a 4 month wait

We do not get license or ID card same day. They give you a paper to carry until the actual card comes a few weeks later in the mail.

Here as well..
So many transplants have flooded the system, all folks have a months wait just to get an appointment.

If you book today for an appt to do a DL, change a DL for marriage or need a new permit, its many months to even get in. The VA is quicker

If you book today, first appointment is May 19th in a 7 county area where I live .

Texas no longer issues a fine for an expired license if an LEO pulls you over the wait times are soooo bad.
