Your Taurus Revolver EDC

My experience with my Taurus 605 poly 357 has been good

For 8 years - my 605 Poly has been a workhorse.

QUESTION: 1) What is your Taurus EDC revolver-?
2) Why did you choose this revolver-?
3) Did you make any changes to your EDC Taurus Revolver-?

I am asking because- I am strongly considering another revolver purchase
SW & Rugers are nice - but the price point is just too high.
Also - my cancer medications have created recoil sensitivity- so recoil management and platform manipulation effectiveness and effective caliber is a balancing act

Thank you

One way to reduce recoil is to have a heavier revolver; another is to go down in caliber. One can also look at reduced loads, but…that can have serious negative effects on downrange performance.

Grips can help, but only do so much, I’ve found.

I’m not a Taurus fan, having owned two in the past that were…suboptimal.

S&W’s are more my forte. I’ve found the juice is worth the squeeze.

Perhaps look at an all-steel .38 as opposed to the lightweight plastic & alloy version.

I don't have a Taurus, so I have no opinion, but I have owned and carry a S&W Model 36 that I bought new in the 70's.
What I would suggest, and this is my opinion only.
If I was to buy new it would be another S&W, but it would be all steel and be in .357 just for the two calibers.
Snubs can be brutal with certain loads, so use rubber grips.

Is there any particular reason you want to stay with a revolver? It sounds like with your condition that maybe you should start considering a striker fired gun? There are lots of reliable options out there especially in .380 that are easy recoil and offer better capacity than a revolver.

I have two taurus revolvers. The first a very early 80s model 66 owned since that time. I bought Taurus because it was highly recommended by Gun Tests and I was a poor college student with little money to spare. It has been an excellant firearm and taken many deer.

The second is the Taurus .380 revolver. I bought this one because it was the only thing in the size I wanted and I already had .380 pistols. I wanted a revolver of the approximate size of the old Smith Terrier revolver because in warm weather I prefer to carry in my hip pocket, a hold over from childhood play, and this was it. I also liked the. 380 cartridge and the adjustable rear sight. I have no complaints.

In a heavier revolver my choice was a 3 inch Model 60 Smith. This was chosen because quite simply it is the best small revolver I have ever shot. Personal opinion.

I carry the Smith a lot in cooler weather and woods walking and it is my bed side table revolver.

The Taurus. 380 i carry in cool weather a lot but mostly in warmer spring summer and fall.

This year the top of my buy list is a Smith Ultimate Jframe in .38 special, a Lipseys exclusive.
