Hello,
I'm new to this forum so I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this thread.
I have a question regarding my HELLCAT® 3" MICRO-COMPACT OSP™ HANDGUN
When I move it quickly in my hand I hear a certain noise.
My questions are:
1. What is this noise
2. Does it mean that my gun is not functional

Here's a youtube of my hand gun making this noise

Thanks a lot and again sorry if this is the wrong place

i took mine to the range for a work out, a few days ago in fact......then took it home for a field strip, and grease/oil lube.

to me, that sounds much like a Glock's firing pin rattling, and for the glock, that is normal.(Glock owners know that rattle)

i too get that sound, with an empty gun, so i ain't worried about it.

one way to really check this, is to first, (clear the gun first from any ammo, and the magazine), remove the slide, and shake the slide....

still hear it..??

if yes, then IT IS the firing pin in its channel rattling.......normal...

Mine does not do that, or i have noticed. now i
m gonna get it out and try it. that's pretty annoying.

I would say you're good, mine works like a charm. Have you oiled the gun up yet. my firing pin may have some Mobil 1 oil on it why it don't make that kind of noise. I oiled the slides and might have got some in there.
i was going to add, that if one cannot hear that "rattle", then the firing pin chamber might be "gunked up"...meaning, time for a full strip of the slide to get into the pin's chamber as well as extractor interior cleaning.

when my Glock G-17 reached 3,000 rounds, i did such a full slide strip, and it was not that difficult, just a bit scary doing it for the first time.

i had ordered (2 of these) and used this for cleaning the firing pin chamber on my Glock, as well as on at least 1 of my 1911's.

Welcome to the forum! I’m out of town right now and don’t have my Hellcat with me, but I totally agree with what the guys have said above. I’m not in the habit of shaking my Hellcat so I’m not familiar with this, but if the guys say it’s nothing to worry about…I’m good with that. 😊😉

Nirnaor,
Welcome to the forum…

I was all set to agree with the general trend stated above - namely, “it’s normal; don’t worry about it “.
Until I actually played the YouTube vid link you added. Now I have to diverge from the group;)
I believe that is way too loud, as in out-of-the-ordinary loud. (Disclaimer: I don’t own a H’cat ).
You don’t mention if it’s brand new, whether you’ve broken it down ( ie, field stripped it) or given it its new-gun cleaning yet. If it is new, I’d do all that and see if the noise is there on reassembly.
If it does still rattle that loud, I personally would call Springfield. Sounds loud enough to hear over the phone! (Or is it just me??)

Just my 2 cents; I’m by no means an expert on anything.

he could have had his MIC volume way up to catch that noise.
