Well, (except near an airport OR a crop duster) I’ve never seen a legitimate aircraft flying within shotgun range, regardless of load used. Frankly the FAA classifying all drones the same as “aircraft” seems a bit of an overreach-I mean the punk kid down the street flying a drone to check out the local girls gets the same protection as a passenger liner? Really? Does that seem a bit off the mark to anybody but me?

I get what you are saying but as good as cameras work that kid can have the drone high enough you wouldn’t hear it.

back in 2001 when the Feds executed McViegh I was assigned to the SORT team at USP Terre Haute. When we wrote up our operations order we were granted a temporary no flight zone over the institutions 1,100 acre property. However that didn’t help as far as cameras

We watched several news choppers (most from Indianapolis stations an hour away) hover around 5,000 feet over the mall about a half mile away.

The footage on the Indianapolis channels was like they were standing right next to the activities!

So some of the no photography rules are obsolete due to technology
