New to me Winchester Model 1906

mikep

Hellcat
My newest addition to the growing collection of Winchester 22’s.
Model 1906, 22 short/long/long rifle. Manufactured in 1928. Slide action, “gallery gun”.
Appears to be all original with the exception of the butt plate. I already have one on order along with some new screws. The action is real smooth, bore has some frosting but rifling is crisp. I’ll shoot it next week and let you know if it goes bang.

Nice. I love old rifles. I have a couple lying around.

Range update. Well, she shoots. Definitely not a target rifle but i wasn’t expecting that out of s something called a “gallery gun”. The target is a 5-round group off a bag at 20yds. The spent 22 casing is for reference.
I also learned that the stock is not original but came off a Model 62. Winchesters slide action rifles (1890, 1906 and 62) have several interchangeable parts.

I replaced only the firing pin stop and the screws that hold it in place along with the elevation screw on the rear sight, which was missing.
Fun rifle to shoot and is mechanically sound. That’s all i could ask for. I am happy with it.
