The OD Green Echelon is my next purchase now that I finally have my 10MM dream gun. I just bought a case of Sellier & Bellot 10MM FMJ, so in the meantime I can spend lots of time at the range until I get the Echelon...and I have a couple cases of 9mm already on hand for when I get it.My OD Green Frame module arrived the other day for my Echelon 4.0 compact and I couldn't wait to get it on.
I'm a huge fan of Green and I really like the 2 tone look.View attachment 77149

I'm not much into plastic, but this one is a pretty good substitute for a 1911. That was about the way it was advertised when it hit the market.
Springfield XD-GM, Mod-2, 45cal, made in Croatia.
That is one sexy bob-tail!!I just got this back from Fink Custom Guns (Gunsite armorer) this am. Dave Fink and so many other great gunsmiths are 30 minutes away. Dave completed the project weeks early and at his quote. Satin bead blast, Wilson/Ed Brown/Night Hawk Custom parts installed. It's what I envisioned and FCG accomplished it.

I've never understood this, you carry your striker fired firearm cocked now, unless you carry it with an empty chamber.Carrying a sidearm with the hammer cocked. Something about it is just disconcerting to me.
That model looks very similar to my XDE... But mine (.45ACP) doesn't have the trigger dongle or grip safety, instead a manual safety/decocker. That, and mine is hammer-fired. I'm old school like that. My XDM-40 was/is my first striker-fired pistol.View attachment 75551View attachment 75552

Well, I guess it's what you're used to. I'm not used to carrying a gun with hammer back. Guns like that were before my time. It's just a mental thing. That is one sexy bob-tail!!

There is no difference in cocked and locked verses a striker carried with one in the tube. The safety aspect is virtually the same. Although I'd go so far as to say cocked and locked (safety on) is safer because not only do you have the safety applied but you also have the grip safety to go along with it. Most strikers do NOT have a grip saftey.
You do have to always be conscious of where the safety is with a 1911 type pistolWell, I guess it's what you're used to. I'm not used to carrying a gun with hammer back. Guns like that were before my time. It's just a mental thing.
It is a process for sure. I spent weeks drilling on the range with SAO pistols before making the leap from DA/SA pistols to SAO's for my EDC. It takes a lot of repetitions to get where you are comfortable with it but still need to be ever conscious of the safety.Absolutely. And it's a major consideration I've been mulling over in whether or not I want a 2011. I'm constantly asking myself if I wanna devote the time to training with & learning as new battery of arms. Sometimes I say yes, sometimes no. I just haven't decided yet.
In retrospect wish I had gotten SAO on my Legion P-229. My 226 has SAO really like it.It is a process for sure. I will never go back.In retrospect wish I had gotten SAO on my Legion P-229. My 226 has SAO really like it.
