"The Curse of Glock" or "Why I Have Moved on, but Cannot Fully Sever that Relationship"

The gun shop i go to a lot has one of those and had it a while, about every time i go in there this one guy tries to show it to me. He's just kiddin around. he knows i ain't buyin it. i told him if it had one less black spot on it i would think about it.
Don't even think about that. Bought one of those Iron Mountain G48s for the granddaughter because it's the "most beautiful gun ever". Good grief, that company appears to have zero Q.C.

Cerakote/paint in slide rails. On the slide guides. In the bottom front of the slide to excess. The Glock guy at our KGS kindly cleaned most of it off and the slide still doesn't cycle like I think it should. Really stiff action compared to all our other pistols.

Add to that it came with a jacked-up recoil spring (which Glock didn't want to replace) and it guarantees that this is the only example of "perfection" I will ever buy. Oh, and the money we had to spend to get the trigger to where it wasn't horrendous...

The RSA with Glock fits several models and calibers, not just one, like on the G26 and G27, same RSA, it takes some shooting for the spring to relax, there all like that at first

In this case, the RSA was clearly defective. Visually you could see that the flanges on both ends were out of alignment and measurements with a digital caliper confirmed that.

The response of Glock CS was to go buy another one. There are plenty of places that sell them.

I was unimpressed.

The flange will be that way on all of the newer duel spring setups, it won’t be perfectly straight, it does have a very slight movement, even a brand new one will be like that, and after firing a good bit of ammo, it will have just a tad more movement, it’s all normal

Instead of buying a Glock and then changing a bunch of things, why not buy a Shadow Systems gun which some writers call the best premium clone? I have no interest in Glocks and understand some of you do, but the SS guns give you various upgrades depending on price right from the factory. Just a thought.

Perhaps to some degree this may be true. When the RSA rolls out of the land/lug machined into the bottom of the barrel while shooting that's a problem in my world. Especially when it prevents the slide from cycling correctly.

Maybe I have unrealistic expectations, but when there's a problem with the pistol I would hope the manufacturer's response isn't "go buy a new one" and tell me where I can find them.

Agree on that, they could have just sent you another one, wouldn’t cost them anything, Sig is the same way when they know the safety pin on the P320 X-Five legion will fall out when you remove the FCU and you didn’t know it would, they charged me 9.99 for the pin and another 9.99 shipping, I told CS you need to put an addendum in manual about it

May 2023, accidentally bought a case of .357 Sig instead of .357 Mag. Now I had a case of ammo and no gun to shoot it with. Did some research, looked like Sig or Glock. Sig’s only available used, at ridiculous premiums. Never had a desire to own a blocky glocky. However, found a G32.4 for a very reasonable price, new, and pulled the trigger. Even LGS guy when I picked it up stated “haven’t seen anyone buy a gun in this caliber in quite a while”.

Quickly found out I could shoot a Glock (.357 Sig at that) better than I’ve shot a LOT of other autos. Over the next couple years bought, shot, and sold/traded a LOT of Glocks. Only own the last two now.

Glock 32.4 - 25 May 23 - 24 Oct 24 - 515 rounds

Glock 48 MOS - 23 Jun 23 - 20 Feb 24 - 930 rounds

Glock 43 ODG - 31 Aug 23 - 24 Oct 24 - 1030 rounds

Glock 23.5/.40 - 23 Feb 24 - 24 Oct 24 - 150 rounds

Glock 21.5 - 23 Feb 24 - 24 Oct 24 - 150 rounds

Glock 20.5 - 23 Feb 24 - 24 Oct 24 - 130 rounds

Glock G27.5/.357 Sig - 10 Aug 23 - current - 517 rounds

Glock 23.5/.357 Sig - 6 Dec 23 - current - 708 rounds

Have now become bored with them, though I do keep the G27.5 (in .357 Sig) in the living room safe and the G23.5 MOS (in .357 Sig) in the bedroom safe, both ready to go for home defense.

When I go out, it’s either my Beretta Px4 LTT, Hellcat OSP w/optic, or Ruger LCR in .32 H&R (my current favorite).

I’m glad I experienced Glocks in my shooting experiences, and the two I’ve retained, I thoroughly trust to work if I need them and know I can employ them proficiently. They are a bit chunky to carry (yes, I know there are slim models, see above - they are just too small for my hands).

But as I get older, the revolvers call my name more and more. And those J-frames, any manufacturer, are sure easy to carry in a multitude of ways.

G31 gen4 and p226 are my current 357sigs. Probably won't get any others that shoot that ammo? Oh, forgot I did a m/p 2.0 40s&w to 357sig conversion. I love that round until I start reloading it. It's fine after getting the dies setup.

@Annihilator i call Heineken, hiney-can 🤣 . I had 1 of those while waiting for a bus from crested butte ski area the town. A female had several and wanted someone to open a bottle for her. I generosity offered and used the coin return on a pay phone. 1st bottle broke the neck, but the 2nd 1 didn't. I kept the 1 i broke and drank it along with the broken glass inside the beer. Not sure if i ended up :poop:'n glass or not🤣🤣?

When I first started my LEO career 34 years ago, I started with a S&W 5906. Loved that gun. Not long after, I went to a Police Expo and was introduced to Glock. Bought it and trained with it and shot it every chance I got. I was probably one of the first in my County to carry one. I was teased relentlessly, oh it's made by Mattel, it's a Lego. Now almost every one of those "teasers" have or carry Glocks in some configuration. Now don't get me wrong I have other handguns that I like and shoot very well but I am always drawn back to Glock. At last count I have over a dozen of them. Only thing I change out is the God awful plastic crappy factory sights. But they're not for everyone either you Love em or Hate em seems there's no in between. Just my two cents...
I started my LEO career in 1999 with the an issued 5906 too. That gun was good. When we transitioned to the 5906TSW, that is the gun that I liked most.

I didn't get forcefully introduced to Glock until 11 years later, at my 2nd agency with a Gen 3 23. Shortly aftet this my Glock collection blew up. I think I have all but two of them. I carry one on duty now.

I'm drifting back to DA/SA, but I still like my plastic fantastic and know its a great duty gun.
