I have the M&P 15 Sport II and I really like it. I have a Sig Romeo MSR red dot on it and I really like the way it shoots. Havent had a single issue with it. But I did change out the grip and stock to Magpul MOE and I think it feels much better with those changes.

My Shield has a red dot on it and I carry it. The red dot makes target acquisition easier, at least for me. And its a small red dot, so it conceals easy.

My typical EDC is a Shield M&P 2.0 in .45 in either a Versacarry Zero Bulk IWB or a Tagua super soft IWB. I also have a bunch of OWB holsters if the mood hits me to carry that way. I have also carried a SA Loaded 1911 OWB. I recently bought a SA XD mod.2 that will be joining the rotation as well.

If it's really hot and I just have on shorts and a T, I carry a LCP II in a DeSantis Trickster pocket holster. It's not any bigger than my iPhone. My wife carries a Bodyguard in the same type of holster. I also carry my Shield or XD IWB or OWB, depending on the mood I am that day :D.

AR 15 by the bedroom door, 12 gauge behind the bedroom door, Shield under my nightstand, 1911 under the wife's nightstand. Other "items" are strategically located.

@ghosttwofive, it came with a 9 round flush mag and a 13 round extended mag. I gotta say, 13 rounds of .45ACP seems a little heavy!! :p
