Just a little fun at the range.

Ya, the barrel got a little hot. Click the image for the video.

    Who's got wood?

Anyone here make your own stocks? I started this a couple of months ago and finally nearing the end. Started out as a stock blank. Had to shape it, mill out the fire control well, inlay the trigger guard, and bed the barrel. First coat of oil has been applied. Over the next few days I will...

    Forum Suggestions

I would like to see a DIY section with areas like gunsmithing, reloading, etc. I've helped to build a lot of forums over the decades and DIY areas bring in a lot of people by means of search engines. Someone has a problem so they go to google or whatever search engine they use and they type in...

Don’t Do These Things with Your 1911!

So many people do things without thinking. I'm very clear when people try my revolvers. You spin the cylinder and flip it closed, you will never touch my firearms again.

Don’t Do These Things with Your 1911!

Great article and great advice. I shared this on my twitter page, and tried on my FB page, but got an error using the share option on the article. I'll have to manually share it.

I just found out my article on this same handgun will be published on The truth about guns this week.

Got a lot done yesterday on this build. Here I installed the plunger tube, extractor rail, trigger, mag catch, and the hammer Now, the safeties, this was a major pain and took me about two hours. The thumb safety needed a little filing, this was expected and was mentioned in the...

That's how the frame came, but clamping it in the jig and other work messed some areas up. But yes, that satin look is really nice.

A few months back I got my beard caught in a drill. Lucky for me the drill has instant off when you let go of the trigger, and I have lightning-fast reflexes. Pulled my face right in and stopped there. I stood there for a moment thinking, now what? I switched it into reverse and unwound my...

I have so many black guns already, I love the look of polished stainless on revolvers.

Today I started polishing the frame. A lot of work goes into it. Not sure if I'm going to polish to a total mirror finish, it's going to get a few scratches anyways. So far, everything is really very easy. The millwork is far less involved than on an AR receiver. But all the little stuff is...

I got started on my final project for the advanced armoring course at SDI.EDU. Over the next three weeks I'll be going through the steps. I made sure every part was here. Stealth Arms makes a very good kit. Pricey, but the quality is really up there. First step after doing inventory was...

Ya, your bolt is hitting the chamber lugs hard. The barrel should be locked into the upper receiver with a slot and tab. Perhaps check the bolt or if your carrier is sloppy.

Once I've got a bit more time I'll get on that. I hope school will slow down a little and give me more time next semester. Once I get on my constitutional law degree, something tells me I'm really going to be busy.
