Shotguns VS. PCCs for home defense

I thought the barrel looked a little short…

Shotguns VS. PCCs for home defense

Yeah, kinda; the blast shield to protect from gap flash is a very smart addition… I don’t see why they didn’t make it a 6-shot like the Governor, though.

    That’s interesting.

    S&W Airweight .38

Eh…don’t shoot as well for me as a Centennial. The humpback on the Bodyguard doesn’t allow for as high of a grip, I found, and it doesn’t point as well, or control recoil. For me. YMMV

Shotguns VS. PCCs for home defense

I’m with @Bassbob in the minis. If I was truly worried about overpenetration, I’d likely switch to a low-recoil #4 buck (as it is, my HD shotgun is loaded with #4 buck, standard velocity)…it’ll go through fewer walls than 00 will. I still think that if someone came out with a decent 2.75” BB...

    S&W Airweight .38

That is a 638…not technically a hammerless, originally known as the “Bodyguard” (which is now the moniker for a cheaper .38 or their pocket .380’s); it has a shrouded hammer that can still be cocked for single action shots. Lots if people consider it the best of both worlds. I had one...

    S&W Airweight .38

If he’d shave $50 off, I’d definitely get it. $600 I would think about it…but probably do it.

    S&W Airweight .38

With the laser grip & ammo? Fair deal. Hammer or hammerless? I wanna say new, 37’s or 6/442’s go for $500, grips run $200+…probably $50 or so in ammo.

Shotguns VS. PCCs for home defense

Federal FC buck at close range is basically a pre-fragmented slug.

Shotguns VS. PCCs for home defense

If you’re living the lifestyle where an actual gang is going to break into your home, and is going to be interested in continuing when they suddenly discover the range is two-way… I daresay you’ve made some questionable life choices. Just sayin’.

Shotguns VS. PCCs for home defense

Why not both? I think if one plans on bunkering up in a room, a shotgun is likely the better choice…but if you need to move through the house (getting kids secured, etc), a short-barreled PCC has several advantages.

When a 159-Year-Old Company Reinvents the .22 Rifle...

I really, really like that. Dead quiet, with no action noise if you suppress it, but the straight pull makes follow ups fast if desired. And a barrel swap gives you .22WMR? Sign me up! I’ve got an Sig Hammerli AR .22 that’s crazy accurate, and reliable…I truly regret not getting one of the...

What are you doing right now??

First night with a new pup went better than expected; kenneled up quietly, spent it well…well kennel her for the first few weeks until we know she’s good on her own at night. She’s curled up on my feet while I drink coffee and catch the first couple episodes of S2 “Lioness”…

What are you doing right now??

Not a clue. Rescue dog. Beagle? Jack Russel? Basenji? We’re gonna get one of those DNA tests done on her.
