Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

And I’ll throw it out again…convince me. Change my mind. Why does any average citizen in the US need access to hand grenades or RPGs? And yes…if we get into a full scale civil war, then I get the use, but as things are now, what use do I have for a hand grenade?

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

And the Hawaii case and NY case are both working their way through the SCOTUS now. My point is it has never been assumed that 2A extends to military explosives. No court has ever made that case, and every law passed at the state and federal level has been to make those explosives illegal or...

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

And respectfully, I think you’re assuming some things and your logic is simplistic. But let me ask…what limits do you think should exist? I know this is a huge hyperbole and exaggeration, but I’m doing it on purpose. Do you think the 2A should be interpreted as allowing average citizens to own...

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

I can buy fireworks down the road too. Not the same thing as hand grenades and RPGs.

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

Thanks for your response. I always like to hear and understand how others think about topics like this one. We’ll have to agree to disagree. Know that I strongly support the Constitution, but I don’t believe owning hand grenades is protected by 2A, and no court decision has ever implied...

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

Only under controlled and regulated circumstances. I can see I’m in the minority here, which is fine, but I’ll again go back to my core philosophy. Individual rights should always be protected. My ability to protect myself with a handgun or rifle doesn’t affect you, unless I choose to break the...

My first time firing a .45ACP Springfield 1911…thoughts and one issue

Didn’t notice so don’t know. I have a Ruger Mini 14 rifle that dents the crap out of the ejected brass casings, and didn’t notice anything like that, but wasn’t looking for it.

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

The topic is people being able to legally own explosive devices like grenades. The fact that you cannot own them without extreme scrutiny will minimize the ability for someone to do that. You can never eliminate psychos from doing crazy things, but we have to have limits somewhere. Should we be...

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

I’m a libertarian and believe that the rights of my fist end at the tip of your nose. Keeping and bearing arms is a right that I use for my defense and for the defense of my family and anyone else that I can defend should the need arise. Using firearms for an offensive purpose is always a...

My first time firing a .45ACP Springfield 1911…thoughts and one issue

No worries. Any idea why I’d be seeing ejected casings hitting in that spot? Is that abnormal?

LOL…yeah, I resisted for a long time. I’m glad I took the plunge, but it’s definitely from another era.

Should grenades, RPGs and Mines be legal?

No. There’s no self defense application for a grenade or RPG, short of full scale civil war.

Actually, Mine does have scalloping. The brass seems to be hitting above it on the top of the slide.

My first time firing a .45ACP Springfield 1911…thoughts and one issue

The other thing I noticed is the brass seems to be hitting the slide and has already rubbed away the parkerizing. The ejecting brass was flying, but I don’t have anything to compare it to. Was using 230 grain FMJ WWB ammo. Is it typical to see this kind of mark behind the ejection port on these?

My first time firing a .45ACP Springfield 1911…thoughts and one issue

Yeah, after calling Springfield I realized that the plunger had to be pushed in. By then the scratches were already visible. I’m not that concerned as she’s not a safe Queen. She’s for shooting, and it’s one of the reasons I got a relatively inexpensive plain parkerized model for my first...

My first time firing a .45ACP Springfield 1911…thoughts and one issue

Definitely not touching or hitting the slide stop at all when dropping the mag. Paid close attention to that to be sure. The slide drops fairly easily when unloaded and no mag. Of course the ghosts of 1,000 YouTube videos rose up to tell me I’ll shoot my eye out for doing it. 😁

Yup one is posted. Just been a couple of weeks between purchase and firing due to a hectic schedule.

My first time firing a .45ACP Springfield 1911…thoughts and one issue

Bought my first 1911 (and first .45ACP firearm) a couple of weeks ago. It’s a new SA parkerized Milspec M1911A1-ish clone. Also got 3 additional SA 7 round GI blued mags, exactly the same as the one that came in the box with the pistol. Today was the first chance I had to go put 200 rounds...
