Okay, I'll answer myself. I wet the bottom .5 inch of the holster so it flexed a little. Wrapped the comp with plastic, inserted the pistol in the holster. Voila...it went in as expected. The comp protrudes about 5/8 inch from the end of the holster. Perfect.
