Why a Revolver is Still Worth Considering for Home Defense

Bridget’s Mistake When Facing Down a Moose

Good article. My son has lived in Alaska for over 15 years and has numerous interactions with moose. Most people just don't realize the size of the moose. Son once walked out of his house to go to work as a truck driver to feel a warm breath on his neck. A large bull was right behind him...

    Rifleman Review: S&W M&P45 Shield

I love my 45 Shield. Do not carry it often as only put a hundred rounds through it so far. Did add a Hogue handall as texture seemed too aggressive.

    Allied Rifles of WWI

Good article on the great rifles of World War I. I own several and had a number of others. My favorite is the 1917 Enfield. One of my go to guns is a Pattern 1914 converted to 7MM Magnum.

The 500 S&W Magnum: Most Powerful Handgun Round in the World

It is a lot of gun. Also one of three I have shot that I don't care if I shoot them again. Shot my son's 500 S&W a few years back in Alaska. The other two are a 45 Magnum in a Contender and a .444 Marlin in a Contender. All three were not fun to shoot and physically hurt my hands. In the...

Sightmark Wolfhound 6x44 HS-223 Prismatic Sight w/Mini Shot M-Spec Reflex Sight

I purchased a Sightmark Sure Shot Reflex Sight to put on my SKS a few years back. Mounted it on the gun, took it to the range and it lasted 3 rounds before it went blank. This is not the same sight you are discussing but because of my experience and word of mouth about similar experiences with...

How to Shoot A Handgun Long Range

I went to a police demonstration years ago. A gent by the name of Blankenship, a national firearms champion, was there representing Colt Firearms. He proceeded to shoot clay pigeons on a berm at 100 yards offhand with a 2 inch barreled Colt Python. Needless to say he shot that gun a lot. :)

How to Shoot A Handgun Long Range

Good article. I have shot silhouette with my Dan Wesson .357 Magnum open sights with a 6 inch heavy vent barrel. Hit first three rams at 200 meters. :) Then wind changed and missed next 7. :( Have 10 inch scoped barrel for Dan Wesson .445 Supermag and can put them in paper plate at 100...

    S&W J-Frames Explained

As I have posted before I love my engraved Model 49 Bodyguard. Have owned and carried it since 1972 both as an officer and a civilian. Still carry it occasionally as my EDC. :) I think I paid $89.00 for it and a holster at a police supply store.

    HEARING PROTECTION FOR SHOOTING

I have a set of Walker game ears electronic muffs. I used them while teaching at the police academy and they work great. Protect your hearing but allow you to hear at the same time. We always required foam ear plugs in addition to muffs while using indoor ranges. I know over the years I have...

    Critter-duty gun?

I agree with the responses of a .22 caliber semi-auto rifle. I live in the country and that is my choice for pesky critters. .22 is also a bit more than precise than a shotgun when your pups are in the fray.

    Firearm Practice: Slow & Steady

As is often heard at the police academy. Slow is smooth, smooth becomes fast. Also is heard crawl before you walk, walk before you run. You can not stress this enough to a beginning shooter. They must get muscle memory down first and put all aspects of shooting together to become an...

    No Second Place Winner

A good review of what I learned in 32 years of law enforcement. Might be old school but is still true today. A lot of these techniques are still taught at police academies but are modified slightly for semi-autos instead of revolvers. The mindset to win is also fostered.

The Keene Report: The M1 Garands Legacy

An enjoyable article on the revered M1 Garand. I love my CMP Garand which was made in 1941. The wood is a little nicked up but the metal parts are pristine. It is a very dependable, accurate and a joy to shoot.
