I honestly think removing the iron sight shouldn't cost more than $60. It didn't take me more than 5min to install and center new irons onto my XD Mod2. Having the slide milled or cut for optics is a different story. That takes Precision and time. The closest gunsmith near me will charge $120+...

Here's an update to my EDC. I've had the Tier 1 Axis for a while now and I prefer appendix carry. I had a threaded barrel fitted. I installed a Rex Silentium G-Type Muzzle Brake. I'm excited to take this beast to range this weekend.

I believe the XD line has carbon steel firing pins. I recommend snap caps for dry firing.

.40 is a well rounded bullet. It's accurate, hard hitting, and fun to shoot. Though it is hard on smaller and/or composite frames. Look at that beast. It's hot!
