Measuring Shooting Skill: Are You Above Average?

Based on a study he did of self defense shooting several of his students were involved in, Tom Givens said in an article I read that for self defense, we should practice quick, safe and efficient draw, and shooting several well placed shots at 3 to 7 yards. I think you did good, Old-Me! So, I...

    so, the climate, is.....

I sometimes think it is the American way to mess thing up then just move off the leave the mess rather than fixing it. Easier I guess to just go somewhere else and mess that place up.

.25 ACP vs .22LR: Which is Better for CCW?

For some folks, the .22 might be the best option. You can buy ammo about anywhere, it is not super expensive, recoil is not a big issue and guns in .22 caliber are plentiful. Based on forum posts, I think most people here can afford more expensive guns and ammo, but not everyone is as fortunate.

The Fighting Shotgun: A Tool for Professionals, Not Amateurs

Probably wouldn’t work in Africa, but here I suspect a 12 gauge will stop about anything you are likely to encounter. Shotguns don’t hold a lot of rounds, but if each ‘stop’ only takes one round it probably holds enough!

    To Fiber optic, or Not.

I have a fiber optic, which is great, and have a Trijicon night sight, which is better. At this point in my mortal existence, I need all the help I can get, and both of these really help. I don’t want sights that require a battery.

The Fighting Shotgun: A Tool for Professionals, Not Amateurs

I always think of Lucas McCain and his Sheriff friend Micah. I can still “see” that double barrel. Thanks for the link, Talyn. I wonder how much training the guy in Houston had?

Well, the little lady finally did it!!!

I understand why some folks steer women to a revolver, Shibadog, but a 38 Special in a snubby can be a handful. Especially with the factory grips. Good for you in helping your friend. I watched a You Tube review (by a woman) of a 32 revolver. I have never shot a 32, but the reviewer was...

John Lott calls out USA Today on crime

Based on the unbiased statistics I have seen, if a person resides in a large city, there is a pretty good probability they will be a crime victim. It is getting pretty gnarly across the river in Memphis!

    Are Guns Bad Investments?

Not to argue, but often over time, changes happen as folks figure out a better way to do something. Personally, I use a grip that feels most natural to me. I like both polymer framed guns and all steel ones, but I have no desire to carry an all steel gun. Too heavy. And, I try to remember to...
