First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I've purchased stuff from them directly and so has my father. They regularly run free shipping on lots of stuff. They're also the importer for Grand Power and the Stribogs. They're legit. Located north of me a couple hours. Weird that it says they are a scam? Definitely not a scam at all...

Haha! Yea, honestly no idea how good or bad they are. Never used them. Figured someone here might.

Did You Buy the Wrong Handgun?

Your first sentence sums up my mothers experience to the T. She absolutely hates the recoil on the smaller handguns, says it feels like they're going to fly out of her hands, and some of them are way too difficult or even impossible for her to rack. She's small and has some arthritis in her...

Most Trivial Reason You Ever Purchased a Gun?

I swear the internet has conditioned me to watch for the inevitable replies to anyone who says something needs to be broken in. I assume something brand new needs a break-in period unless told otherwise! "But it shuld werk right out of the b0x! F4iled pr0duct! TRASH!"

Most Trivial Reason You Ever Purchased a Gun?

Nice! It's definitely a good fit for my hand. Haven't shot it much but I used 115g Blazer Brass and some Remington 115gr with no issues. Odd that you're getting issues with the Blazer. I'd try some Remington. I have the Original CCP, not the M2 though so maybe that makes a difference in the...

Definitely want to hear what they say about it.

For pcc users or want to be

Yea, I picked them up from my local GS, but I also live a couple hours south of Global Ordnance so they got stock pretty regularly and run sales. They changed to the curved mags a bit over a year ago and that solved all the issues people were having. Turned out to be a combination of the feed...

Most Trivial Reason You Ever Purchased a Gun?

Not exactly a 'trivial reason' but I wasn't expecting to purchase anything except some ammo when I walked into my local GS that day a few years ago. Ended up browsing a little and saw a Walther CCP 9mm on -clearance- for $229 brand new in box. I didn't have a conceal carry gun at the time, but...

I might have to look into grease for my Prodigy!

Ohhhh nice. A fellow Stribog owner! I have 2 Stribog SP9A1 2nd Gens. I love how simple and reliable the Gen 2 is. One is my range toy - setup with Magpul angled front grip, Holoson HS403C, compensator, extended bolt stop and folding charging handle. The other is a home defense setup - larger...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

…on the lube topic! I was using Hoppes on my Prodigy and switched to Clenzoil after a couple people recommended trying it. Definitely slides much smoother and keeps it MUCH cleaner. I'm honestly wondering if some of these GunTubers are running theirs dry either on purpose or because...

Did You Buy the Wrong Handgun?

When I was brand new to all of this, I tried some guns that I thought were 'awesome' before I knew any of this, and ended up surprised at how 'not fun' they were to shoot because they didn't feel right in my hands. I was fortunate enough to get someone who worked at my local GS when I was ready...

    HELP!!!

Definitely some good information in this thread and glad the OP got his issue resolved. Anyone use Clenzoil? Thoughts on it vs others?

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Love to hear you're having fun and it's running well for you! Mine's been solid through 600 rounds, not one issue. Haven't made any changes to it other than the Viper red dot. It's a fantastic gun and thoroughly enjoyable to shoot. Incredibly smooth and soft. Is it meant to be a 'Staccato...

Springfield Prodigy 5" with Vortex Viper Red Dot installed

Yea, they're SUPER fast at responding and sending them out. Glad you got the same experience that I had! They even included an extra lens cleaning cloth and some stickers with the screws.

Springfield Prodigy 5" with Vortex Viper Red Dot installed

I emailed Vortex directly and told them I had the Prodigy and the Viper and that the included screws were too long - they sent 4 new screws at no charge. New screws work perfectly. Very good Customer service from Vortex.

I actually contacted Vortex and told them the screws that came with it were too long and they sent me the correct screws for the Prodigy no charge. Would recommend doing the same!

I just got my Vortex Viper screws in yesterday to fit the Prodigy. How'd you like the Viper vs other Red Dots?

I noticed that too. Barely ejected the brass more than a couple of inches away. Funny enough, he did a 1k round review of the Prodigy two days ago. He gave it the thumbs up after a 'break-in period'. (I feel like break-in periods are a thing, but so many seem to think it's controversial?)...
