    Any issues with the Prodigy?

Can't hit the barn? Sounds like something is WAY off. Try checking if the sights are loose? I haven't ever heard -anyone- say that their Prodigy isn't accurate. Hell most say it's one of the most accurate pistols they've used.

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

For me, it's about getting a better grip and protecting the polymer bottom of the grip which is most likely the part of it that'll get chewed up.

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

Got mine in today and put it on. Bit of a pain in the rear at first but wow, the Prodigy feels really nice with a magwell on it! My grip is definitely more snug and the bottom of my hand pushes against the magwell in a good way. Can't wait to shoot it this weekend.

1911 That Takes Glock Mags?! Introducing the Stealth Arms Double-Stack 1911 Platypus — SHOT Show 2023

Interesting and glad to see more 1911 DS / 2011 style guns. This is what I'd get if I were to purchase one. Actually really like the customization options. Wish it had an option for ambi safety though.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I'm in the same boat. Though my father just got the 4.25" so I can really test it out at the range to see if I like it enough to buy it in addition to my 5". I let him use mine when we go to the range together and I might have let him use it so much he fell in love with it

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

Been watching this thread and you've all convinced me. I've wanted one for some time. Just purchased one - will report back when I get it installed. @SimonRL Get one yet?

    I'm not a 1911 guy......but..........

Personally I'm alright with buying a new product from a company that is well known and has good Customer Service (Like SA). I bought the Prodigy day one because I knew SA would stand behind it. But a brand new design from a completely new company? That I personally am not comfortable with. I...

    2023 Prodigy

Glad yours is running well, as is mine! Where did you see this info about the 2023 ad improvements? Can you please post a link?

    I'm not a 1911 guy......but..........

Interesting but not a fan. Has some interesting features but... The price isn't attractive. $2200 minimum for a 5"? I dislike aluminum frames. Way more kick than a steel frame. It's not designed for carry so... why aluminum?? Minimum mag capacity is less than comparable guns (Staccato is 16 and...

The Prodigy looks ugly from pictures I see

Same for me, though my serial is 03XXX so I definitely got one of the first batch. After a quick trip to SA it's been flawless. I agree though, i'd like a lighter trigger. Mines at about 4.5-5lbs but 3-3.5 would be perfect.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Funny you mention TheHumbleMarksman - he has a fantastic review of the Staccato P, Bul SAS II 4.25" and Prodigy 4.25" (He runs Bul race guns) In the end - He says the Bul and Staccato are better 'carry' guns, but he also says the Prodigy is the most fun and smoothest to shoot. Linked video below.

There's nothing wrong with MIM parts. Almost everything we buy today has MIM parts, or MIM equivalent parts. The Bul appears to be very nice and I've looked at them before, but I've always reserved judgement on -anything- until I've had it in my hands and tried it for myself. The Prodigy is...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

MSRP is the only relevant price when you want to do a data driven comparison of one gun to another. If you find one on a random website for cheaper, that's an outlier. Sale prices are irrelevant. I could find a Prodigy, if I looked hard, for $1100, and probably a Staccato P for $2100...

No, I mean standard price, right on their website, with optic ready option. $2,500. I'll take the Prodigy all day for 1k less.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Curious on what you think of how the Prodigy shoots vs the Staccato C2. I tried an older Staccato C and was not impressed, it was VERY jumpy compared to the Prodigy. Prodigy is a lot smoother and softer shooting. The C2 and CS are aluminum lightweight guns. (I haven't tried any other Staccato...

The Prodigy looks ugly from pictures I see

My father snagged a 4.25", sadly his had issues as well but he knew he might. He will be sending it in to SA. Somehow, his Serial# is 06XXX, which Is pretty low considering he got it last weekend. Sucks having to send it in, but after my experience with SA CS he's not too worried about it. He...

The Prodigy looks ugly from pictures I see

After a trip to SA, my Prodigy was still having going into battery issues, but I tried out a Staccato mag and it ran flawless, and has ever since. About 1,000rds through it now and zero issues with Dawson Precision Staccato mags. The geometry on the SA mags vs the Staccato mags are very...

How to Choose Your First Semi-Auto Handgun

Shoot different guns in different calibers. (If you can rent some at your local range) Shoot a Striker fire polymer, shoot an all steel 1911. Shoot some 45ACP, shoot some 9mm, heck, shoot some 22. You'll quickly see how different each one is and you'll know what 'felt' the best for you...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Well, not an update on mine, but my father liked my Prodigy 5" so much (Though he said he wanted something a little smaller), he bought his own 4.25". I've wanted to try the 4.25" to compare it to my 5" and well, now I can

Screw size for the Holosun 507k AOS plate for the Prodigy

You might want to contact Holosun and see if they'll send you the right screws for it. I purchased a Vortex Viper and the screws that came with it were too long; called them up and they sent me the right ones free of charge.
