Maybe Doctors are Hesitant to Talk About Guns With Patients Because It’s None of Their Damned Business

Friend of mine was asked by his doctor, "Do you have a gun in your home?" He replied "I have one in your office." This may be an apocryphal story.

    What’s Your Oldest Firearm?

Oldest one I've owned since new is a Winchester Model 67 Boys Rifle I received for Christmas when I was 8. That was 1954. Lots of kids learned to shoot with it in the last 70 years. Oldest one I own is a Colt New Service in .45 Colt, made 1906.

    Flying recoil spring plugs

Mine landed on a ledge of the stringer in the basement. Thought to look there because I didn't hear it hitting the floor.

6 year old suspended for finger gun..???

Times change. I was in junior high in 1957. Science teacher had a cabinet in the classroom with six .22 rifles. With a note from parents, you could take one home for the weekend but not on the school bus. He would also sell you .22 Standard Velocity .22s for 50 cents a box. In high school...

    Hellcat Firing Pin

I broke the striker in my Hellcat Pro. Too many dry fires without a snap cap. I installed the M*Carbo replacement. No issues. 3500 is a lot of rounds. Seems unusual it broke the striker.

Have a Hellcat. Is Hellcat Pro redundant?

I don't have the original. I like my Pro, but the trigger is under 4 pounds. I'm reluctant to carry it for that reason. My micro is a Taurus GX4. I'm very impressed. Need a lot more shots before I trust totally but without issues so far.

    Spidey senses were tingling

I don't know if situational awareness can be taught, but it can be learned. Self defense class adjourned for a group lunch. Instructor asked some pointed questions about what I should have observed in the walk to the restaurant. I have since made it a point to practice. Check the parking lot...

    Review: 17-Round Hellcat Pro Magazine

Internet wisdom says Pro 15 round magazines will fit the original. I assume the new 17 will, but you know about assume.

Why I Carry with an Empty Chamber — Should You?

Interesting that two examples he gives - hugged by Aunt Minnie and showing his gun reaching for the peas - don't make a damn bit of difference whether or not a round is chambered. I carry Glocks chambered. I don't carry my Hellcat Pro with a 3.5 trigger. Too much of a good thing. It's an...

Would you carry a 22 mag

I have a Kel Tec PMR 30 I carry on the tractor. Works good on ground squirrels and feral cats. In the unlikely event of a two-legged threat, I don't feel under armed. Sometimes carry a NAA .22 Mag for deep cover/ From Romeo and Juliet. Mercutio is wounded by a rapier. MERCUTIO No, ’tis not...

    Justified??

Good for the clerk's comment - "He saved my life." I've done mental reps on this situation and my takeaway is to avoid convenience stores, AKA, stop and robs.
