Unique M3 and M3A1 Grease Guns and Accouterments

One of my favorite toys (when and where legal). 🤩 They don't leave much meat but they are fun with running rabbits.

    Carrying multiple guns

Most agents and LEOs carry at least two guns and those who see lots of activity often carry more. Many years ago there was a group put together with a single street agent for an entire state. By the nature of the assignments we almost never had access to any backup and most of the time the...

    Why I Love Pheasant Hunting

The problem is, the skin is what makes the bird taste so good. 🤤

    Why I Love Pheasant Hunting

If only I could get someone to pluck the birds.

    CobraTec knives

I bought one of their "limited edition" out the side hidden opener models. It is a beautiful knife but almost impossible to open even with two hands. The factory says send it to them at my expense and they will try to correct the problem. The seller says send it to him at my expense and he will...

    Amazing How Quickly We Age

I think what struck my wife and I the most was looking at pictures of relatives that fought in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Then we looked at pictures of us marching with and talking to Spanish American War vets. For me, the idea that my great grandfather fought in the Revolution...

    Amazing How Quickly We Age

My wife and I were going through an old box today and found things that triggered our memories: My paternal grandfather was born during the Civil War, and his father had brought a troop of men from Germany to fight for the British in the Revolutionary War; Both of our fathers were born before...

    Anyone do minimalist camping?

I started at age 8. 3 packs a day of unfiltered Pall Malls. I finally quit on my 75th birthday. Hardest think I ever did. I still dream about smoking.

Hawaii moves to bans 21 years ammo sale

If Hawaii had had the guns and the guts in 1893, this thread would not have been happening. It amazes me how cultures who have had terrible things happen to them are the first to want to ban private ownership of weapons.

    Vegas next week... any recommendations?

You have many recommendations. The problem is not knowing your budget or tastes or interests. The Japanese flock to the gun range that rents full automatics, and if you don't live where that is possible, it can be terrific fun for a gun enthusiast. We love renting Ferraris to run up the highways...

Why Was Hip Shooting Ever A Thing?

Many us had little or no choice. Many agencies and departments were afraid to allow anything other than .38 round nose rounds even in guns built for magnums. My particular beef was several federal agencies issuing the "Hoover Special" 3" stamped "Property of the US Dept of Justice" being issued...

Why Was Hip Shooting Ever A Thing?

I'm old enough to have shot with him at a shooting range.

Why Was Hip Shooting Ever A Thing?

Hint from someone who learned and used hip shooting in real life: Buy and practice with a CO2 powered BB pistol. Much cheaper and it offers many more places to practice. I haven't tried it yet, but I have a buddy who swears by these new laser targets.

Why Was Hip Shooting Ever A Thing?

I'm old enough that all of my early trainers were hip shooters. Given what their law enforcement lives were like the fact they were still alive to train others meant something.

So, does more money equal better weapon?

Hmm... Some of my expensive guns have been highly decorated and are eye candy as well as being a functional tool. I also have spent considerable money in the past to end up with truly custom guns over the years, like cut down 1911s in the late 1960s and 1970s to create concealable pieces not...

Will You Use Your CCW If You Are Attacked?

It is a long way from the days when the FBI academy taught it was the proper procedure to shoot to kill if someone suspected of a felony tried to flee after being ordered to stop. It was also something else when George Nonte brought the group of Shooting Times writers together in Peoria...
