Brand New Springfield Armory 1911 loaded target

Put 100 rounds through the gun and no issues with the rear sight. Seems to be good and tight still. Might be awhile before I fully trust it’s not going to move.

Brand New Springfield Armory 1911 loaded target

Got the gun back from Springfield yesterday saying they replaced the rear sight. I tried to move it by hand and at least it wouldn’t budge. Will take it out for a range session tomorrow which will be the real test. They sent nothing extra with the gun.

Update: My gun is on its way back and the invoice states they replaced the rear sight. Hopefully they didn’t use the same one. We shall see as it will be back next week. Another update will be forth coming after the next range trip.

Why wouldn’t customer service tell me that if that is all it was? The big top screw is for elevation adjustment. I am pretty sure I looked on the bottom side of the sight and didn’t see a set screw protruding but I may have missed it. I wasn’t real pleased at the time.

Brand New Springfield Armory 1911 loaded target

Yea I don’t think I should have to do that on a brand new gun. There is no tapping the sight back in place I can slide it with ease from side to side no resistance.

Brand New Springfield Armory 1911 loaded target

I have already contacted them and it’s on its way back but man I still don’t get how this is possible. I cleaned it and there didn’t seem to be an issue with the sight but I mean I didn’t like try to move it or anything. Their quality control really dropped the ball on this one.

Cleaned it and took it to the range. Shooting great and then the rear sight came off! Good Lord what a freaking disappointment that was. Picked up the sight and it slides in and out of the sight channel of the slide like it’s too small. I don’T understand how this got out of the factory. Below...
