1. The burrs are SHARP. They will cut skin. If this is in a holster, it will cut the elbow area.
2. This is a NEW gun, it should not have this issue.
3. Because.
I seriously doubt it. It would have to have been dropped from the exact height (or whatever) to create the same depth gouge on each side of the hammer in the exact same location. It must be a tooling mark or something like that.
That’s what I’m thinking. I will file down the sharp points and blue it and not worry about it. I’ll most likely order a cylinder and slide hammer at some point.
My first thought as well, but when I inspected the slide I saw no markings, I tested the hammer to see if it had enough play to be off that much and it is solid all the way from cocked to strike. Almost looks like a tool marking from assembly line. I have the typical front of the rear sight...
You can see the bright metal look in relation to the bluing on the hammer. Im not too worried about it, I do not think it will have anything to do with function, but they are very sharp! They will require a filing to keep from getting cut or scratched when coming into contact with them.
Just picked up a new SA35. Upon closer inspection at home, I noticed each side of the strike face on the hammer have bare metal showing, like burrs. I don't know if this is normal or not for a HiPower as this is my first experience with one. Anyone else have this showing on their hammer...
