Ayoob: 1911 — Outdated Hype and Nostalgia?

Valid. Like I said, vocabulary not my strong suit. IIRC, Stacatto and Bul Armory have comped 2011. I couldn't think of one under $2K so with the GTO in spitting distance, it struck me as leapfrog from the 1911 X.

Ayoob: 1911 — Outdated Hype and Nostalgia?

Vocabulary is not my strong point but the nicest word I can think of for anyone who thinks the 1911 is nostalgia driven is "illogical". I am living proof at less than a handful of years with firearms. The 1911 is an utterly logical choice of firearm for several important segments of the market...

Review: Stan Chen Customized 1911 EMP

I carry the officer Ronin EMP and love it. It solves several carry issues. 1) All fingers land on grip 2) That buttery 1911 trigger design 3) Light weight at 24oz I melted all the corners on the frame, grip safety, thumb safety and the corners of the slide. I also tuned the trigger to 3lbs...

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

How did you get it from the factory 5-7lbs to 2:13l??

Lessons Learned: Facing Down a Carjacking

So, where to carry in a vehicle? I can't imagine being able to draw from appendix in my sedan. The article shows a revese mounted holster mounted on the door. Is that the way to go? I am right handed in left hand drive country. TIA

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

FYI. SA support says trigger pull from factory is 5-7lbs ergo my EMP 3 is fine.

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

Got it. I remember that video. I thought it was about the dropping the slide debate not dry fire. I tested my gauge against a kitchen scale and they match. HOWEVER, the 3.1 lb trigger I reported was a MISTAKE. I was reading the wrong side of the scale (the color scheme and shiny coating...

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

Right, in that video he disassembles it and does some honing. In the video I posted, he claims to have lowered it by putting pressure on the hammer while dry firing it (a couple of times) which is maybe accelerating the "break-in" between internal trigger parts. Not sure. I got a Lyman analog...

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

I have no desire to work on my gun. I've seen GunBlue do a trigger job on that Colt he has with the stones and all. But in the video I posted above, he manipulates the hammer and trigger in such a way that he claims lowers the pull weight 1/4 to 1/2 a pound. It's at 16:34 in the video I linked...

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

I didn't mean "drop in" part. I meant "reduction in" trigger pull weight.

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

Anyone ever do this to get 1/4-1/2 lb drop in trigger pull? Or know what it's doing internally?

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

Great. Thanks all. I thought it should have a great trigger so was a little disappointed. I bought a trigger gauge to see how it breaks in. It came well lubed so I shot it as is. I've since cleaned it and used mil-comm tw25b grease using technique I saw in a Bill Wilson video. Haven't shot it yet.

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

What is a match grade trigger? I thought it was just marketing schtick?

Ronin EMP 3: Does the trigger get better?

Having become proficient with an Equalizer for EDC, I shot a full size Kimber Stainless II and was instantly better. I wanted to move to an officer 1911 and chose the Ronin EMP 3. I know it's not going to shoot like a full size but after the first 100 rounds, I expected better. I am finding the...

New Ronin EMP 3 rear sight is blackout not white dot

I shot it for the first time yesterday. Is the idea that instead of cueing off the white dots for adjusting aim, you are looking at how much of the front sight is not a circle (eg it's covered by one of the 3 edges of the rear sight)? But if the front sight is a full circle, you are either on...

New Ronin EMP 3 rear sight is blackout not white dot

Yeah, I've always wondered why. Trying to aim, maybe under stress and the primary tool for aiming is playing hide and seek with every dark thing in sight. Why do you like them?

New Ronin EMP 3 rear sight is blackout not white dot

Just received a new Ronin EMP 3 from Springfield and the rear sights are missing the white dots. Is just two dabs of nail polish for the fix?
