1911 advice

I’m on the hunt for a Springfield 911 9mm then this happened...

I found two new in box Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec Defend Your Legacy models for $499 at a local semi-big box store.

My question is, I currently have a Springfield 1911 Loaded, is there enough difference to pick up the Mil-Spec Defend Your Legacy model?

I guess you could say, I’m trying to justify it. It is a beautiful plain jane 1911, thats built well, and at a fantastic price.

Really had my eye out on a 911 9mm but they seem to be as hard to find as a unicorn.

I’ll probably kick myself if I pass up this deal, what do you guys think?

As you know the Loaded is a better spec’ed 1911 than the defend your legacy model. 499.99 is about going price for that model so it’s not really a steal from what I have seen. I’d get one of it interest you. It’s a fine basic 1911.

Yes sir, but it sure is pretty, in an old fashioned kind of a way hah.

Tough call, if I could stumble on a 911 9mm I would pick one up, but it seems like Springfield hasn’t made any in months.

Same frame & slide as all the other models. Not like the older, more accurate GI model that was didcontinued a few years ago.

The differences are the plainer sights on the slide; and non-skeletonized trigger and hammer, non-beavertail grip safety and rounded mainspring housing on the frame.

So, a base model that's not really mil-spec because of the slide set-up, and without some worthwhile enhancements that are in the next model up.

But it goes bang like all the rest, and a reasonable price.
