1911 Break In Period?

If anybody knows anything about Kimber 1911’s you will need to do the 500 round break in, there will be some issues with them till then, they are noted for this, there tolerances are very tight, it took my old Custom II in 45 quite some time before it feed 100%, this is one of the reasons Kimber gets the bad rap on there 1911. Kimber’s are not like Springfield, Colt and other manufacturers, which my new Colt Competition 45 has had no issues, my RO Operator in 9mm had a few due to an underpowered recoil spring, changed it and gun was fine since then.

Thanks a lot bud! That's definitely reassuring. The gun is very accurate. I don't want to get rid of it and I am afraid I'll regret it if I do. I just want it to cycle properly! It's definitely not a mantinance issue! I take care of all my firearms. I think my next move is to put 200 rnds of ball through it at rapid fire and see what happens from there. It's only had approximately 600rds through it, so it's still a fairly new pistol

Figured I would check in. My dad started his paper work on his Kimber. Also ordered 500 rounds of Remington 230 grain fmj.

So once you shoot the gun and have any updates to share I would like to hear about them.
Most definitely I will brother! I keep a certain amount of ammo stocked for all my cartridges. I won't go below the threshold if I'm at that number. Unfortunately I am at that number right now because of the shortage. As soon as I get more at the LGS (witch shouldn't be long) and I fire it. The the people of this thread will be the first to know! I'm just as anxious to know how the arm continues to operate as you are!

Idk about tight tolerances but I’m pretty sure the brainiac that thought putting a rough bead blast on the slide rails had a lot to do with the fact mine has to be oiled every 50 rds to expel the junk from the two rough surfaces grinding together. If the tolerances were tight to begin with, they won’t be after it’s broken in. Should probably just throw some sand in there for good measure 🤦🏻‍♂️

I swear I don’t know how some people tie their own shoes in the morning.

What gun are you referring to?

I’ve had great luck with S&B ammunition in my Elite 10mm, when I bought the gun there was not much to choose from.
I’ve since found some Hornady JHP and proved it runs in my gun so it’s now loaded with that.
When you say S&B. Is that Sellier&Bellot? Because that's what I bought 250 rounds of yesterday. 180 FMJ and I bought a 50 rnd box of Sellier&Bellot 180 JHP a couple weeks ago for SD loads.
