i only have 13 as of today...new here. considering a 1911 45acp trying to chose which one. advice is welcome.
This.I’d go with a RIA as a first 1911.
ROCK Standard FS 45ACP 8rd
Built with a traditional classic 70 series design, the Rock Standard full-size is built with our top quality production and engineering standards.www.armscor.com
This has everything you need to learn on; the upgraded sights & grips are worth it over the GI models. Usually see them in the $500 range around here.
Kimber Rapide Black Ice. You might as well go all in. It’s a Series 70 which might not mean anything right now, but it will.new here. considering a 1911 45acp trying to chose which one. advice is welcome.
But for a first time 1911 owner, the Swartz safety is not a good thing for them. Makes the gun a little more difficult to take down and reassemble especially if you don't watch and MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT touch the grip safety period during take down and reassembly.Kimber Rapide Black Ice. RAPIDE (BLACK ICE)
A truly unique 1911 with stepped cocking serrations, striking two-tone Kimpro finish and DLC coated barrel for extreme durability. Equipped with Kimber Stiplex TM front strap stippling and new G10 grips with matching accents for extra gripping confidence.www.kimberamerica.com
My vote as well.View attachment 39673
SA Mil-Spec. Shoots great. Straight up 1911. Nothing fancy. Happy to have it by my bedside. Would’t want to carry it though. On the heavy side.
That’s why I said it’s a Series 70. It doesn’t have a Swartz safety. None of the Rapides do.But for a first time 1911 owner, the Swartz safety is not a good thing for them. Are you looking for a 1911 for carry or just for range/home defense? That may change some people’s suggestions. So far all of the ones mentioned are winners.new here. considering a 1911 45acp trying to chose which one. advice is welcome.
Yea, saw that, I was just making a point on the other Kimber 1911's, guess I over slept at the Holiday Inn Express that night.....That’s why I said it’s a Series 70. It doesn’t have a Swartz safety. None of the Rapides do.
I have a Pro Carry II and it has the Swartz safety. If I don’t have a proper grip on it the trigger will hang up on it. It’s a pain in the butt. Great shooter though.Yea, saw that, I was just making a point on the other Kimber 1911's, guess I over slept at the Holiday Inn Express that night.....
