1911Addicts forum ???

Has a forum/site called 1911Addicts been connected to this TAL forum somehow? When and why ?

I just this AM got an email from 1911Addicts greeting me “Hi TidalWave”.

I’ve seen that site before but TW has not signed up with them !

Anybody else run into this?

I’ve been on it too - but through an entirely diff email, and not as TidalWave.

PS:
Agree about the number of nutty posts and ramblings; also the ads are overwhelming - bordering on obnoxious. Overall, its way too ‘busy’ a site for what little actual info that gets discussed…

Well, that’s the oddball thing: I dug up my old old 1911Adds account, using the OTHER email (this forum is connected to diff email). I still get occasional email notification from them on that email. It also has another user name -not TWave…No prob there.

This is the first 1911Addicts thing I’ve rec’d on this email (ie, the one associated with this Springfield/TAL forum) using this username (TWave).
That implies I just recently re-signed-up on 1911Addicts, which I definitely have not.

Some Google or Apple nuttiness at work ??

From responses above, looks like nobody else has experienced this. Or noticed it yet…

some time ago, a Canadian firm/publisher/message board corporation(??) bought up nearly all the former gun websites, and they are under one roof now.

how do i know this? i got kicked off one 1911 site not the one you posted about, cuz i came out against a political posting, that the members simply did not like, cuz my opinions not align with thier opinions.

but, since the buyout, i have been back, even under my name that i got kick out with...!!!!!!

that's what "might have happened" to you, the emailing "system" called out to your former self.

go to nearly ANY gun message board website, scroll down the the very end, and you will see that same ownership.

I'm a Member there, i have never posted anything. I just like to drool over the pics of Wilson Combats, and Nighthawks that i can't afford... There is a bit of gun snobbery.. They seem to tolerate the SA 1911s, but really bash the Kimber folks. And they have a very active classified section, so i enjoy looking at whats for sale.. and a very good girls with guns thread..:love:. So im just a signed up lurker there...lol.

well, i go to the 1911 forum, and drool over the red headed chicks, in teeny bikini's.

I'm not sure, the registration date of TidalWave on 1911 Addicts shows as May 16, 2020.

In any case, I can assure you that no data sharing exists from this forum to other sites/forums.

I was just on the site I think Simon is correct must be a membership drive they awarded me with a more than certain amount of message it’s not that bad but definitely they have their good share of nut jobs . I like this forum a lot better much better people

@Louis G. : I am starting to wonder if I perhaps, just perhaps , signed up there right when I signed up here. (Early May 2020). Then maybe forgot about it, but later re-signed up under my other email..
But, but [sputter sputter] Why all of a sudden get this ghost “Hi, TWave! Here’s your latest update…”? I do get messages from them occasionally on my other email and that username/handle. Never TWave though.
That kinda freaked me out.

I’ll search old email and see if I signed double.
(PS- just to clarify: never intended to imply there was any issue with TAL. More like me getting hacked or something)
