Is My Knife Dangerously Cheap?

If you even have to consider that question then yes, it could very well be a cheap piece of junk you should not bet your life on.

However, high price does not guarantee quality either. A bit of research will give you good reputable brands and makers in many price ranges to fit your budget. Please Do not settle for that 20 dollar gas station folder.

All i carry now is hellcats. OTF

Yeah OTFs are rather nice to carry. My wife calls them adult fidget spinners lol.

All my Field or Deployment knives are CRKT, from combat folders to sweet straight knives, they make hardcore tools. I have a slight fear of carrying my handmade knives or knives like my Infidel, into situations like travel in other countries where I have a risk of losing them. Probably just being more sentimental than practical actually...

I don't know, I paid @ $12 for my knife. The center pin is way proud, plastic scales don't match perfectly, the blade isn't centered, plain old carbon steel, just about every fault the nit pickers find fault with and it has worked fine.......for 50 years. Of course with the rate of inflation that means I paid $75-$80 way back when. What to hell was I thinking. As a kid you got to stack a lot of hay bales for $12. ;)

I've got a pile of "Cheap" ( sub $50) knives. The VAST majority of which are crammed into a GI issue duffel bag somewhere. Where they belong.

In my pocket today is a Benchmade Casbah S30V auto. Others that are NOT in a duffel bag include a MT UTX-85, BM Barrage, Bugout, Mini Bugout, Steep Country ( fixed ) Anonimous (Fixed), all Cruwear or S30V. In fact I have a Griptiliian coming in the mail today. I can't remember now if it's Magnacut or Cruwear. Hopefully Cruwear, I really like that :poop:.

2nd tier is a few Boker autos, a Nice Buck Odeyssey, an old Timer ( fixed) a Schrade ( Fixed) and a Cobratech OTF with a D2 dagger style blade.

I used to carry the side folding switchblades, but the buttons are kinda easy to push when you lean against a bench. i know the newer ones have safety which i hate. had a couple go off in my pocket before. the OTF knives takes a whole lot of doing to set off in your pocket. also if'n you have this big boy go off in yer pocket, ya probably going to get something whacked.

I have 3 of those. One is authentic Italian and resides in tier 2. The other 2 I got at flea markets when I was a kid and they reside in the duffel bag.
