First Look: 1911 DS Prodigy Compact 9mm Pistols

Like to have one, but my state (Washington) put the screws to these firearms. I have Colt 1911's which are all .45 ACP and eight round magazines are the largest. I have no way to get one of these new pistols into the state with 15 or 17 round magazines. Fortunately, I had a Browning HP when the restrictive laws were enacted and it was "grandfathered" in. I have 13, 15, and 17 round magazines for it that are legal. I did buy three ten rounders for it, but probably will never use them...I hope. The 17's are not reliable. I'd like to add one of these new pistols, but I would be limited to ten rounds. I see a real problem purchasing a pistol made available after the law was passed and coming up with magazines exceeding ten rounds in my state.

Has anyone purchased or reviewed both? I've only seen folks review the 3.5...I've not seen a 4.25" Compact review yet.

I'd initially thought that the 3.5 would be a good option but the 4.25 might be better...would offer the same things as the 3.5" but with a longer sight radius, plus a longer barrel would allow for slightly more bullet velocity.

I'm torn between the two.

i had my hands on a prodigy 3,5 compact yesterday and really liked the feel. i did not shoot it . I was wondering if a steel frame variant will be offered in the future? I have to admit the aluminum frame felt good
The grip frame is polymer not aluminum and it does feel really good in the hand. My 4.25in model is a tack driver.

I was referencing the frame being aluminum on the 3.5 not the polymer grip which felt great . I am glad to hear good things on the 4.25 also. I was considering getting the 4.25 but I was very impressed by the 3.5. Thanks for the input on the 4.25
