It’s a necked down 10mm to 9mm. Gives .357 mag velocities in an autoloader. Neat caliber, but very snappy recoil when run hot, and loud. Easy swap with (almost) any .40 pistol, all you need is a barrel.That’s a cartridge I never dug into. I just don’t know much about it. Is it in between a 9mm and 10 mm, meant to compete with 40 cal?

USSS & Sky Marshal service ran it for a while, as well as Texas Rangers.
A friend has a .357 conversion barrel for his Shield .40...that’s a little powerhouse, doubly so with the Underwood loads he uses for carry. It’s almost as unpleasant as an airweight .357 J-frame...I certainly agree with HansGrube rand will add - the smaller the pistol the snappier the recoil.
