Always have my 38 with me

All I can say about the .38 Spec. is that is was a good/fun round to shoot in my Ruger GP-100. However that gun was stainless steel and I didn't like having to clean it + it was just slightly a little heavy for me. I never fired a .357 rd. out of it, so I gave it to my son.

The .38 Special still has it's place. A lot of people who get small .357 Mags end up using .38 Spl because they don't care for the recoil from the magnum.

I noticed that there were a number of good loads not listed. Like the go-to Speer 135 Grain Short barrel load, the fairly new Federal 130 grain Hydra-shok deep.

My .38 Spl is one of the old Ruger Speed Six stainless .38 special's. Not the lightest revolver but quite usable in the right holster and it will digest any .38 Special factory load out there. It has the discontinued Federal 130 grain HST Micro in the cylinder and Speer 135 Grain God dots in the speed loaders

If I ever went down to one handgun it would be a 38 special S&W DA Revolver. I still carry and shoot them quite frequently.

Here’s my range day stuff from one of my K frames last week at 7 yards. Aims surplus trade in I picked up about 4 years ago a Model 10 that is usually my Wife’s bedside gun (it loves 158 stuff)
