The .38 Special still has it's place. A lot of people who get small .357 Mags end up using .38 Spl because they don't care for the recoil from the magnum.
I noticed that there were a number of good loads not listed. Like the go-to Speer 135 Grain Short barrel load, the fairly new Federal 130 grain Hydra-shok deep.
My .38 Spl is one of the old Ruger Speed Six stainless .38 special's. Not the lightest revolver but quite usable in the right holster and it will digest any .38 Special factory load out there. It has the discontinued Federal 130 grain HST Micro in the cylinder and Speer 135 Grain God dots in the speed loaders
