Old_Me

SAINT
ok, so some want to set up this obnoxious 4 day work week BS.

so like, does the work week go from Tuesday thru Friday..??

if so, what happens to all those Monday holidays...???

if the work week goes from Monday thru Thursday, does that mean the Monday holidays are cancelled...???

no mention as of yet, but i found this to be "amusing"

"
Fernandes said that this concept could help save lives.

“We are living in an incredibly overworked, overstressed society that is increasingly disconnected from friends, family and community. Because of that, we have an epidemic in this country of unhappiness. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are dying each year from suicide, drug overdoses, alcoholism, and similar factors,” he said.

uhhh...NOOOOOOOooooooooooo

workers are over stressed from the bosses lopping on extra work, since they cannot find new workers.

oh boo-hoo, "we have an epidemic of unhappy people"

well, you stinking dumb***'s, STOP over working your employee's...!!!!!!

And this outrageous BS......"Hundreds of thousands of Americans are dying each year from suicide, drug overdoses, alcoholism, and similar factors,”

people gonna DIE, people gonna do drugs, people gonna do booze........NO MATTER WHAT.......!!!!!!

i'm so glad to be retired.

article should be reading like,

"Pansy's in America are refusing to work like thier grandparents, and parents did, and wanna just sit on thier butts and get paid for doing' nuffin"

I used to work night shift, 17years. 3rd shift. When I first moved down here to Florida in 1999, the print shop I worked at worked 12 hour shifts, 4 days a week. However, with the workload we had , we often worked 7 days/nights straight, 12 hour shifts. Those were the days, 24 years younger and raking in the cash. People cry like little biotches working 5 8 hour days? I still work over 40 hours a week. Now I am on days, working for a small shop, but I can still put in the overtime when needed, and I am 56 years old. Buncha pansies. If there ever is a "civil war", it should last all of a week or two, since that is all these little darlins' can handle.

I spent most of my manufacturing career working 4day work weeks and loved it.
When I worked for Olin Ski’s making snow ski’s I worked second shift 4 days a week. Start time 4:30 pm out at 3am
During the summer months I would get out of work at 3am Friday morning and go directly to a hotel room on the beach. Spend all day Friday through Sunday night on the beach and didn’t have to be back to work until 4:30pm on Monday. Awesome schedule.

I’m just wondering why the boomers are whining about this now; if you can get the same amount of work done in 4 days instead of five…what’s the big deal?
The same reason that Boomers don’t understand how a business can
operate with a significant percentage of their workforce working remotely despite the fact that all the numbers show that productivity goes up. As it does working 4 8 hour days, but naturally working less than 40 hours a week is what those socialist Europeans do. That won’t fly in ‘Murica!

So let me know how y'all feel about your well pump failing at 5pm on Friday, you call a well pump contractor to replace it, but he tells you, "sorry...you are out of water until next Tuesday." Are you willing to pay $6k for something that would normally cost $3k? Just so you can work 4 days a week? Talk about an inflation booster.

Tell me how a manufacturing plant can produce the same number of widgets while their production workers are OTJ 4 days a week instead 5? Are you referring to 4-10's? That already exists. Automation? Not there yet (by a long shot).

You realize that there will always be jobs that have “on call” hours, right?

Heck, even my job has overtime; for example, this is supposed to be a 3 day week for me, but I’m covering 2 days for a coworker on vacation…it’s my option (I’ve got seniority, and can pick & choose most of my OT)…but with my holiday pay from last weekend, I’m looking at close to $3k in OT…that’s a nice new toy, if I want one.

But most office work, etc doesn’t need to be there 5 days a week.

Couple of places here went to 4 day workweek, but they work 10 hours a day
True many do, last I heard they were not advocating that. From what they mentioned on the radio here about it they're advocating a 32 hr week. So yes a lot of white collar businesses will like it because they are paying less in wages, which in turn the top will get even bigger bonuses for saving money and getting the stock holders more dividends.
Most places like wally world only work their folks 32-35 hrs anyway. At least here they are lucky to get 32hrs.

Walmart used to work them 37 1/2 hours. They also used to match all employee stock purchases dollar for dollar. The insurance sucked and you couldn't dance at any company functions.

My first wife worked at Wal-Mart/Sam's from the time she was 15 1/2 until a year before we got divorced when we were 32. She started in the receiving department at WalMart and when she quit she was the receiving manager of a Sam's. She also had close to a million in WalMart stock. Which I could have gotten a big chunk of. I literally didn't even get a lawyer. Just signed whatever her lawyer mailed me. I didn't even ever go to court. I was crushed and just wanted it over. Gave her the house and 3 cars. I put my tools, guns and guitars in my truck with my dog Raleigh and left. I ended up actually putting myself on the hook for about 30k in credit card debt I never even knew existed. I still think I did the right thing and have no regrets. Though it pissed my second/current wife off that I was still paying that credit card off when we got married a couple years later. She did get 15 years with Raleigh though and I wouldn't trade that for a million bucks.

I remember the time our well pump went out, it was a complete nightmare. Literally. I was having a nightmare that I lived down in The Holler, but I woke up and remembered I live in a major metropolitan center where I can get hold of a trained professional 24/7. And then I called @KillerFord1977 up and we went shooting at the range and then had some ice cold beers afterward. Crisis averted.

Well pump went out down here in the holler once. At the house my daughter lives in. It was a Saturday. Had my guy out here within 2 hours. New pump and wiring and drop pipe installed before noon on Sunday. $1400.

I've never had a water or sewer bill though so I'm pretty sure I'm ahead.
