I have been wearing 5.11 gear since forever. In the close protection community the vests and pants became popular for hiding your accoutrements when not wearing a suit, especially in hot climates. The pants have pockets I need and the belt loops are in the right place for carrying guns and mags. And the stuff wears like iron. Everybody and his brother wears cargo pants nowadays so the argument that it marks you doesn't hold water any more
