7 Best Affordable 1911s (For Your Budget)

I recently ordered an Optic Ready slide from Tisa for my Duty BR9, which is a pretty fantastic 1911. The slide has an RNSc footprint and with the direct mount you can 1/3 witness with the standard sights. It was already super accurate and now it is phenomenal.

Have two RIA A1 Standards in 9mm and 38 Super (converted from another 9mm).

Agree that they'd hard to beat for the $$.

Built a .45 acp on a Fusion frame that eventually resembles the one in the article. The frame was very nice.

Any opinions from armorers or LGS employees on this topic?

If you were getting a mid-tier 1911 and wanted some basic upgrades from USGI version, which of the newer models and brands see less time in shops getting repaired or being sent back?

Had problems with a 1990's era Auto-Ordnance (Numrich) 1911 (1911PKZ) and since the company was sold there was no help from the surviving AO company. Was not worth fixing given minimal sunk cost. Springfield Armory has been making 1911s for a while. Ruger is hanging in there as a company and making different 1911s. Both have had product ups and downs, but both are still innovating and seem to be providing support. SA Garrison checks all the boxes on paper. Others are all in transition: Colt is CZ now. So is Dan Wesson. SDS has a couple companies making 1911s. RIA and Girsan seem to have plenty of fans and detractors like SA and Ruger.

Hi,

Cool article. Yay Garrison! ;)

I think my "need to buy" list just got a little longer. :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for your indulgence,

I looked at the Garrison a little while back when I decided I wanted a new 1911 .45ACP. Nice looking and good features. I ended up with the Operator, however, because of the partial rail. I don't plan on installing a light, but it is nice to know I could if I wanted to. Just finished a 500 round break-in, and will start an evaluation of available defense ammo soon. So far I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

I just wanted a SA 1911. My LGS had a gently used Garrison on sale for a good price. Sold! Turned out to be a really nice pistol. Now I'm itching for a 1911 in 9mm.
