A "Loaded" Question If There Ever Was One

This is going to be well within the realm of hypothetical, because I'm afraid the odds of finding an SA-35 within the next year are going to be slim and none. Be that as it may, how much sense might it make to trade a very slightly used CZ 75B Retro for a new SA-35? There's not a &@!* thing wrong with the CZ but I honestly can't afford to make a net addition to my humble collection, so trading would be my only recourse. So - SA-35 or CZ 75B Retro?

you need to inquire where you want to do this hypothetical trade, how much money will you have to shell out, as they are going to make a low ball offer for your retro.

we can only guess, but you'd want exact answers.

and also, hold off at least 6 months for the bugs to work out, and they produce newer guns with the fixes.

FWIW, I concur with Sld and O_M above….

Also, ask yourself how much you like (love?) that CZ and could you find another if the SA35 turns out to be not what you expected.
I’ve been in tight $$ circumstances several times in my adult life , and waiting a year (while saving what u can) is best all around imho. Especially if you do like your CZ Retro. You might be blessed with a stroke of luck and be able to have both !
Luck tends to follow sensible people who err on caution. In the long run anyway:)

Durn. A gun aficionado and philosopher, to boot! (Thanks, T.W. ;) )

At this point, though the SA 35 looks amazing, I would just stay with a good ol Browning Hi Power.

$700 for a SA may be worth it, but until the bugs are worked out, The Classic design from 1935 is worth its weight in gold.

I have shot one since 1991 with 20,000 rounds plus thru it. Still love it .
Brings a smile to my face like my 1911’s

Everyone is different, but a CZ 75B is pretty nice looking to me. If it shoots nice, I would be inclined to keep it. The problem with trade-ins is that you generally get low balled on the trade-in.
i bought a CZ 75B in the first part of 2020. it is blued (or black to me). i had the chance to buy the all SS the store had, but as i told the salesman, im wasn't trying to impress anyone with that. it only cost "about" $300 more than the black one. now of course the SS is not made anymore, and i have seen NIB for sale at like triple the MSRP pricing, which makes me say, (wished i had gotten one)

they are solid guns, shoot incredibly well, and recoil is just not an issue, over a polymer/metal say for Glock.

they have thier issues, like any other gun, like spring replacements at xxxx number of rounds, or until they break.

like anything else too, with a hammer fired gun, the CZ's really don't like to be dry fired, with out a snap-cap.

the firing pin roll pin, has a nasty habit of crushing, due to the hammering with out a cartridge or snap cap.

it "can be" an easy fix, if you inspect that roll pin for crushness. (look thru the roll pin when it is in the slide) otherwise, wait too long, and it's a trip to the gunsmith

Cajun Gun Works, sells replacement roll pins, stronger than the factory for cheap. (i have at least 2 on hand, as well as at least 2 trigger springs) for that "just in case i need it time....all parts are dirt cheap.
