A Major Change And A Regret Corrected.

4 months ago I traded my 1911 45ACP RO for a Elite 4.5 inch barrel 10mm with my neighbor Thinking I wasn’t going to find one, a month later I bought an Elite 3.8 Compact 10mm
After shooting both I really liked the compact so I sold the full size 10mm to a good friend. All this time I regretted getting rid of my 1911
After months of thinking about the brace situation on my AR Pistol and not wanting to deal with the possible fall out I opened an account on ArmsList and posted my Edge Pistol, up until now I’ve had great luck with ArmsList but this time? Nothing.
So today I packed up my AR and everything that went with it and took the drive to my favorite LGS
And came home with cash in my pocket and this………

A 1911 45ACP Emissary.
what a beautiful gun.
I was surprised to get two Mec-Gar magazines instead of Springfield mags but they seam solid and well made.
I’m also very happy with the aggressive texture on the grips and front and rear straps.
Yes my first two tone gun.
I had a choice, it was the Springfield or a Colt 1911 10mm
The Colt just didn’t seam to fit my hand but after all I am a Springfield guy.

Nice

Who has experience with the Mec-Gar magazines? I remember seeing them mentioned on the forum and was surprised to see them included with the gun instead of Springfield mags.

They seem to be very well made and solid, definitely not made from flimsy thin material.
I do t have any experience with Mec Gar 1911 mags, I did get them with my new Sig 226 Legion and they work fine but look like cheap knock offs compared to the Sig magazines. Even the MecGars I have with my CZ75B are better looking.

Mec-Gar makes OEM factory magazines for a ton of the major firearms manufacturers who add their own insignia and floor plates on them. They are known to be of a top quality mag alternative in the aftermarket world. I bought a few Mec-Gar mags for some CZ pistols and they work perfectly and even came with a better extended floor plate than the CZ mags that came with the pistols.

Here's an informative article on Mec-Gar mags.

My Beretta M9A4 came with Mec-Gar mags. They look like quality mags. Beretta has some supply problems and has a Magazine request website, since I only got one FDE mag baseplate to match the FDE pistol. The other two mags were black plates. They allowed one to sign up for two additional mags with the FDE base plates when supplies come in. Whether they’ll be Mec-Gar or Beretta, they didn’t indicate. 🤷‍♂️

I have had exactly ZERO problems with my Mec-Gar .45 mags, Key.
In fact, I like them the best in one regard: they are the easiest I have to disassemble and clean !
My Wilsons are ok if fiddly to take down, and my CMCs are a PITA for maintenance - although both feed ammo flawlessly.
But I’ve had no issues with MG.

Great article thanks 10, I’ll be taking the Emissary to the range on Tuesday or Wednesday and running some rounds through it, I’m positive it will function fine.
