Actual Billboard In Rural Missouri

Old_Me

SAINT
Location: Uranus Missouri Towne Center, St. Robert, Missouri, U.S.A.
Est. Cost: $1,500*

Believe it or not, this is a real billboard, smack-dab in rural Missouri, according to the amused person who took this photograph. The billboard advertises a magical land known as “Uranus Fudge Factory,” where “the best fudge comes from.”

Yeah there are a bunch of them on I-44 southwest of me. "Pack some fudge in Uranus". I pass them every time I go trout fishing. Apparently Uranus is a pretty cool destination. Especially if you have kids. They have an old west town and mock gunfights. The fudge is supposed to be good too.

all my time driving long haul, i cannot recall ever driving near there to have seen any such billboards.

70 is a nightmare.
i don't doubt that...

i had to conjure up my memories, and from what i can recall, i only pretty much "passed thru" MO, going east, or west...

never made any stops other than truck stops on that I-70, or just off it.

although i cannot recall the traffic, i ran into way back then (the early 1990's)

are they widening the highway, by adding more lanes..???

i recall vividly back in those years, Houston was under construction to add like 4 to 8 more lanes???? on EACH side of the highway..!!!! must be like 16 lanes, maybe 20 now..???

They are seemingly always working on it. Which in reality they need. Not only is traffic extremely heavy as it is a main thoroughfare from KC to STL with tons of semi traffic, but they don't have enough lanes, the road condition is terrible and people drive like idiots in Missouri.

Used to see that 3-4 times a year driving from home to Springfield (15 years back)....never stopped though.
I drove regularly from Springfield to Ft. Leonard Wood (St. Robert) but don't remember the billboard. Then again that was about 40 years ago. When did the business start?

Way later than that. Not ten years ago. Maybe 8.

Are you familiar with Buckhorn, Mo. ? It’s a little crap hole off 44 between Springfield and Lebanon. Never stop there. I did once. It was like an episode of Twilight Zone.

Don't know about Buckhorn, though I remember the turn off for Lebanon. Thanks for the warning.

I saw the Uranus signs and compound on my 3-4trips/year sales loop to Springfield between 2003 and 2008. Time flies faster as we age...
