Definitely AR. That doesn't mean at some point I won't get an AK, but when the chips hit the floor I'll take an AR-10 over an AK, which is more of an apples to apples comparison than AR-15 - AK47.

The AR-10 really isn’t an apples to apples comparison to a AK in 7.62; besides bullet diameter, they don’t have anything in common. The AR10 uses a much longer cartridge, throwing a heavier bullet at a much higher velocity, at the expense of a much larger and heavier rifle and considerably more recoil.

More accurate would be a .300BO AR15 vs the AK in 7.62; both are similar in size and weight, and both will throw a ~125gr bullet in the low 2000’s fps.

Or, just compare a -74 and a standard AR.

I'll have to defer to you on that Hans. I have never shot an AK-47 or even a .300BO. I figured the comparison was good since an AR-10 is typically .308, which is the same size projectile as 7.62.

7.62x39 (left) and 7.62x51/.308; 122gr@2300fps vs 147gr@2800fps.

I never knew anything about the 74 either. Very interesting. I would like to check one out for sure.
