SAINT
Full disclosure I don’t own either one at this time and no nothing about AK’s however I’ve owned AR’s so my choice in a battle would be the AR Platform.
I'll have to defer to you on that Hans. I have never shot an AK-47 or even a .300BO. I figured the comparison was good since an AR-10 is typically .308, which is the same size projectile as 7.62.The AR-10 really isn’t an apples to apples comparison to a AK in 7.62; besides bullet diameter, they don’t have anything in common. The AR10 uses a much longer cartridge, throwing a heavier bullet at a much higher velocity, at the expense of a much larger and heavier rifle and considerably more recoil.
More accurate would be a .300BO AR15 vs the AK in 7.62; both are similar in size and weight, and both will throw a ~125gr bullet in the low 2000’s fps.
Or, just compare a -74 and a standard AR.

I never knew anything about the 74 either. Very interesting. I would like to check one out for sure. The AR-10 really isn’t an apples to apples comparison to a AK in 7.62; besides bullet diameter, they don’t have anything in common. So is it like 223/5.56, where you can shoot the 7.62x39 through a .308, but not vice versa or are they simply not compatible at all ?View attachment 38720
7.62x39 (left) and 7.62x51/.308; 122gr@2300fps vs 147gr@2800fps.
Not compatible whatsoever. So is it like 223/5.56, where you can shoot the 7.62x39 through a .308, but not vice versa or are they simply not compatible at all ?
Basically for comparison, The 7.62×39 is closer to the .30/30 and the .308 is closer to the 7.62 × 54 used in the Dragunuz sniper rifle and Mosin NagantSo is it like 223/5.56, where you can shoot the 7.62x39 through a .308, but not vice versa or are they simply not compatible at all ?
